Summary
We are looking for a Quality Engineer that is experienced, detail-oriented to join our growing team. This position will play a key role in overall success of our organization. This position reports to the Quality Manager but will be expected to work in a team environment with Engineering, Sales, Production, Accounting, Inventory Control and Safety. Oversees the product quality currently being manufactured on the production floor.
Responsibilities
• Will be required to compare production drawings to parts in production and advise on discrepancies/possible causes.
• Functional experience using common quality inspection tools to validate dimensions.
• Responsible for supporting the development of the Quality Assurance (QA) manual and other levels of documentation defining the QA system.
• Working with third party/state inspectors like FM/UL/TUV to ensure that Justrite maintain compliance to the required manufacturing standards.
• Creating and maintaining work instructions specifically for the quality processes.
• Help develop and maintain an active gage calibration system.
• Work with Customer Service to perform RCCA responses to selected customer complaints.
• Manage engineering deviations requests to support manufacturing along with helping identify and implement permanent solutions.
• Work on RCCA with supplier quality issues identified through the manufacturing process or sample submissions. This includes direct communication with Purchasing and the supplier.
• Review and approve Supplier PPAP submissions on new or revised purchased parts
• Initiate and manage requests for engineering changes to resolve quality issues.
Requirements
• 3-5 yrs. experience as a QE in a metal fabrication/welding manufacturing business required.
• Associates in Engineering Technology or equivalent experience required. Bachelor of Science Engineering preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in working within a formal quality system required.
• Functional experience with RCCA/A3/8D/etc methodologies to achieve continuous improvement.
• Experience developing preventative quality processes within a lean mfg. environment.
• Strong sense of curiosity with a proactive entrepreneurial mindset.
• Strong in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Power BI experience would be considered a plus.
• Strong communication skills from the shop floor to upper management.
• Ability to work in noisy environments with hearing protection
• ERP system experience preferred.
• Ability to work individually or as part of a team
• Diligently follow safe work practices for yourself and team members at all time
• Ability to work in both a manufacturing office and shop floor environment daily.
• Wear all required PPE including: steel toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
