Certified Medication Technician administers prescribed medications to patients and maintains related medical records under immediate supervision. Administers medications using proper dosage, route, timing, and techniques. Being a Certified Medication Technician verifies the identity of the patient receiving medication. Records the name of the drug, the dosage, the time of administration, and any other relevant information on specified forms or records. Additionally, Certified Medication Technician takes vital signs and observes patient to detect response to medication. Follows all relevant safety guidelines and regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification. Typically reports to a registered nurse or manager. Medication Technician

  • Primary responsibility to provide medication management services to individuals presenting with mental illness. This position also assists clients in meeting their daily living needs, ensures a standard of cleanliness in the client's living environment and facilitates recreation and socialization with clients in the community. 
    • Seven day/week medication delivery and observation of medication compliance.
    • Assist consumers with learning daily living skills such as shopping, meal preparation, and personal and community safety.  
    • Assist consumers with organization and performance of activities designed to ensure a standard of cleanliness in their living environment.  
    • Monitor medication regime and compliance as directed by their physician.
    • Report to appropriate staff any changes in client's behavior and functioning.
    • Assist consumer with the identification of community resources.  
    • Provide transportation to clients, as needed. 
    • Familiarize self with consumer's treatment plan and assist consumer with working toward goals.
    • Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-services trainings.
    • Work collaboratively with law enforcement, families, other county departments, schools, acute care services providers, and other community resources to coordinate appropriate crisis resolution and referral. 
    • Communicate pertinent information on a timely basis and participate in clinical supervision case reviews, staffing's, and/or case planning meetings.
    • Complete all necessary health care/medical and financial record documentation required to maintain complete medical and financial billing records.
    • Perform other duties as assigned, including responding to an emergency event.
    Supervision Received:
    Receives supervision from the CSP or CCS Supervisor.
    • Must have a High School Diploma.
    • 1,000 hours of experience working in human services preferred.
    • Valid Wisconsin driver's license and automobile insurance are required.
    • Prompt and regular attendance.
    • Ability to establish a therapeutic relationship.
    • Ability to relate to highly diverse population.
    • Ability to work independently.              
    • Ability to solve problems and negotiate solutions.
    • Must be able to lift and carry 20 pounds, climb two flights of stairs, use public transportation and demonstrate the performance of household chores.
    • Must be able to assist clients with activities of daily living, such as shopping, cleaning and cooking.
    • Knowledge of DHS 63 regulations.
    • Knowledge of evidence based.
    • Knowledge of community resources.
    • Ability to work well with treatment team and community members.
    • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
    • Interacts with the public in a professional manner.
    • Must be able and willing to work evenings.
