The Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a skilled nursing facility that cares for the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Veterans. Our mission is to Serve Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity and providing compassionate care.
The Charge Nurse (RN) position is responsible for caring for the residents of Thomson-Hood Veterans Center.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Supervises professional ancillary employees in the administration of efficient nursing care of residents and makes recommendations to the Nursing Administrator and Nurse Shift Supervisor.
- Assesses, plans interventions, and evaluates care of residents. Participates in care planning process.
- Participates in all aspects of direct care including responding to emergency situations.
- Monitors medication passes and treatment schedules.
- Participates in staff education and serves as a preceptor in new employee orientation.
- Reassigns staff according to resident acuity.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

This job requires mandatory COVID 19 vaccination or an approved exemption in accordance with CMS-3415-IFC from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. This means if appointed to the position, the applicant must have completed the primary vaccination series for COVID-19, which means the administration of a single-dose vaccine or the administration of all required doses of a multi-dose vaccine upon commencement of employment. The vaccine received must be one of the FDA-approved or FDA-authorized vaccines. Proof of vaccination will be required. If a medical or religious exemption is sought, the candidate must submit paperwork to the employer prior to appointment for review and approval.
