Charge Nurse jobs in Trenton, NJ
Charge Nurse plans, directs, and evaluates the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit or during an assigned shift. Coordinates the activities of the unit and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff. Being a Charge Nurse assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary. Additionally, Charge Nurse requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Charge Nurse supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Charge Nurse typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Responsibilities of an RN Charge Nurse?
- Assessing and monitoring residents' health and well-being.
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Developing and implementing care plans for individual residents.
- Coordinating and supervising the care provided by Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and other staff.
- Documenting residents' medical histories, care plans, and progress.
- Responding to medical emergencies and providing immediate care.
- Collaborating with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Managing and operating medical equipment.
- Providing emotional support and comfort to residents and their families.
- Advocating for residents' rights and dignity.
Qualifications of an RN Charge Nurse?
- High school diploma
- RN certification in NJ
- Communication Skills
