  • Job Summary

    This position will support operations for ACTEnviro by conducting environmental services and collections while observing safety protocols (proACTive).

     

    Accountabilities

    • Understand Federal/State EPA requirements for hazardous waste disposal.
    • Ship waste according to DOT requirements.
    • Understand and manage chemicals base on physical and chemical properties for proper disposal.
    • Responsible for proper packaging of hazardous waste to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance 
    • Inventory chemicals for proper disposal or for HMBP.
    • Perform inspections of staging, accumulating and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance in regard to 40CFR
    • Oversee the Inspections of storage areas for leaks or spills
    • Inspect drums for compliance with labeling regulations
    • Collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency, maintain compliance, and safety. 
    • Sampling and profiling of new waste streams or any wastes needing analytical testing
    • Prepare all necessary tracking paperwork 
    • Utilize waste management software to efficiently and accurately manage waste program
    • Assign proper waste codes to all materials that are designated for disposal
    • Maintain and manage waste profile data
    • Provide waste tracking reports as needed
    • Prepare computer-generated packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restriction notifications
    • Identify unknown laboratory chemicals when they are encountered
    • Perform other assignments as assigned by management
    • Availability to work weekends and extended hours as needed

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Ability

    • Knowledge of the hazardous waste industry with EPA, DOT, and applicable state and local regulations a plus
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds
    • Ability to work efficiently and effectively
    • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
    • PC Skills
    • Ability to pass a pre-employment background screen, physical, and drug-screen

     

    Education/Experience

    • Have or willing to obtain a Class B/C License (clean driving record in the last 3 years)
    • High school education or equivalent
    • Experience in the hazardous materials/waste industry preferred
    • Successfully completed HAZWOPER 40 hour (must have copies if certified)
