    Job Title: Chief Executive Officer

    General Statement of Duties:

    As the Chief Executive Officer, you will report directly to the Board of Directors and lead the organization in embedding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles and practices into every aspect of our work. Your role will be instrumental in fostering a culture of belonging and equity, both within our team and in our interactions with the community. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Chief Development Officer to secure public and private funding to support our operations, programming, and services. You will serve as the principal representative of the agency to funders, collateral agencies, and the public, increasing awareness and developing strong community relationships with various stakeholders. In this capacity, you will directly supervise the Chief Operations Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Human Resources Officer, Chief Development Officer, and Program Directors.

    Leadership

    • People Management:


    – In partnership with Human Resources, support the leadership team in ensuring equitable experiences, strengthening inclusion acumen, and promoting a culture of inclusivity and belonging that embraces the contributions of all employees.

    • Supervise, coach, evaluate, and support the Chief Operations Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Development Officer, and the Chief Human Resources Officer, and Program Directors.
    • Oversee, manage, support, and empower all direct service program leaders in behavioral health, addiction medicine, prevention, children’s services, recovery housing, and all other services.
    • Champion in Advancing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) Initiatives: through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, creating, and maintaining relationships with community partners, and proactively managing bias.
    • Integrate Agency mission, vision, and values into the recruiting, hiring, and training of new staff. A heavy influence should be dedicated to DEI.
    • Commitment to Excellence: Striving for excellence in all endeavors, actively seeking solutions, and maintaining precision in tasks and responsibilities.
    • Cultivate a positive and inclusive work environment by fostering teamwork and collaboration across departments.
    • Promote a culture of accountability and empowerment among leaders to cultivate trust and respect within the agency.


    Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, including emotional intelligence, clear and concise communication, adept conflict resolution, and the cultivation of meaningful relationships both internally and externally to advance the agency’s mission and vision.

    Fiscal Management

    • Knowledge of Financial Reporting, Compliance, and Budget Management
    • Collaborate with the COO and CFO in preparing the operating budget; manage funds according to budgetary requirements.
    • Demonstration of Fiscal Responsibility
    • In partnership with the Chief Financial Officer, apprise the Board on the research and development of financial resources, agency goals and objectives.
    • Understanding of Operational Management
    • Collaborate with Leadership in organizational planning, human resource allocation and contractor decisions.


    Strategic Planning and Business Strategy

    • External:
    • Engage in fundraising, development, events, and community relations
    • Build and Maintain relationships within the community of donors, foundations, potential donors, and other community partners.
    • Demonstrate a deep understanding of community needs, with a specific focus on addressing the needs of marginalized or underrepresented groups.
    • Partner with similar agencies
    • Being the “face of the agency” by consistently representing the agency in an exemplary, culturally informed, and expert manner.
    • Serve as an Agency representative attending key meetings at the local, state, and federal level.
    • Internal: Strong strategic planning skills, with the ability to develop and implement long-term goals and objectives that align with the agency’s mission and vision.
    • Facilitate development and management of the strategic plan, ensuring DEI principles are incorporated throughout the process
    • Create long-term goals for programs and mobilize staff to actively support and contribute to these objectives.
    • Assist the Board in developing and implementing policies and procedures necessary to achieve agency goals and objectives.
    • Assist the Board with the fulfillment of responsibilities and provide opportunities for education to Board members regarding general responsibilities, program objectives, DEI etc.
    • Provides regular reports to the Board appraising it of internal/external challenges and successes of the agency.
    • Advocate for services needed to address the needs of children and families regarding behavioral and mental health and substance abuse.
    • Advise the Board and serve as a liaison between the Board and staff.
    • Perform other significant duties defined by the Board of Directors
    • Participate and provide leadership in continuous quality improvement efforts as defined by the Strategic Plan, accrediting, and regulating entities and funding sources.


    Required Qualifications/Competencies:

    Education: Master’s degree or greater in administration, or Human Services. Experience may be substituted for a professional degree when it is carefully evaluated, justified, and documented by the Board of Directors.

    Required Job Knowledge and Skills:

    Leadership: Demonstrated experience and proficiency in executive leadership roles, with a proven track record of effectively guiding organizations towards their goals.

    Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI): Strong commitment to and experience with advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives withing organizational culture, structure, and practices

    Financial Acumen: Demonstrated experience in financial management, including proficiency in developing and overseeing operating budgets, analyzing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. A proven ability to strategically leverage financial resources to maximize operational efficiency and effectiveness, while maintaining fiscal responsibility and sustainability.

    Strategic Planning: Strong strategic planning skills, with the ability to develop and implement long-term goals and objectives that align with the agency’s mission and vision.

    Community Engagement: Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse community stakeholders, including volunteers, donors, partner agencies, and government entities.

    Team Leadership: Effective leadership skills, including the ability to supervise and empower a diverse team of executives and program directors, fostering culture of belongingness, collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

    Interpersonal Skills: Adept at establishing and nurturing positive working relationships with clients, staff, industrial and professional community contacts, and the public. Demonstrated self-awareness, cultural competence, and the ability to foster collaboration, resolve conflicts, and cultivate a harmonious work environment that values diversity and inclusion.

    Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders, articulate the agency’s mission and vision, and advocate for its goals and initiatives.

    Ethical Standards: Strong commitment to upholding ethical standards and integrity in all aspects of agency operations and decision-making processes.

    Knowledge of Mental Health, Social Work and Substance Use Disorder treatments.
