Information Technology and Graphics Specialist

  • PURPOSE OF POSITION

    Under supervision of the Director of Technology, the Technology and Graphics Specialist maintains computer systems, provide technical support, responds to trouble tickets submitted through ticketing system and utilizes graphic design and marketing skills to support the organization's visual communication needs..

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

    • AA degree in Graphic Design, Information Technology or related technology field is required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
    • Proven experience as graphic designer or relevant position
    • Good knowledge of Internet security and data privacy principles
    • In-depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
    • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
    • Analytical skills, quick learner, self-starter, strong work ethic, high energy and drive to achieve quality and customer service.
    • Working knowledge of asset tracking system
    • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite
    • Experience in creating visual content for various purposes, including marketing materials, presentations, and website design.
    • Properly handle confidential information and records
    • Ability to visually communicate complex concepts effectively through graphics and design.
    • Understanding of marketing principles and branding guidelines.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
    • Must possess strength to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
    • Ability to make difficult decisions while under stress with composure, tact, and dignity.
    • Evidence of a basic understanding of the Navajo Culture
    • Ability to speak Navajo preferred.
    • A valid driver's license and a safe driving record

    Navajo/Indian preference:

    Consideration for employment will be given to Navajo, American Indian or Alaskan Tribal member with the required documentation including the necessary qualifications to meet the

    minimum requirements of the position. The Navajo/Indian preference law shall apply in all aspects of the position.


    EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION

    The position is based on 240 contract days.

    Note: Notwithstanding the above, this position is subject to possible furlough, or reduction in force under NPS, Inc. Personnel Policies; due to unforeseen reductions in program funding that requires such general program changes.


    SUPERVISOR

    Primary: Director of Technology

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    • Supports and efficiently carries out responsibilities in accordance with Navajo Preparatory School Board, Inc. (NPS) Policies and Procedures
    • Represents NPS in a manner reflecting professionalism and which enhances community understanding of the program.
    • Secures and protects the confidentiality of NPS, Inc. network and other components of the technology information system.
    • Designs, maintains, and enhances the NPS Website, ensuring compliance with branding guidelines and marketing objectives.
    • Creates and updates marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, and digital advertisements, to promote NPS programs and events.
    • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers, etc.)
    • Check computer hardware (HDD, mouse's, keyboards etc.) to ensure functionality.
    • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications.
    • Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance.
    • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
    • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
    • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work.
    • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.)
    • Maintain records/logs of repairs, fixes and maintenance schedule.
    • Identify computer or network equipment shortages.
    • Integrate voice, data, and video applications on the network.
    • Provide technical assistance for telecommunication issues.
    • Keep current on new developments and techniques in information technology.
    • Design, maintain, and enhance the NPS Website
    • Track inventory and enter into NPS inventory tracking system.
    • Participate in yearly physical inventory and assist in annual audit.
    • Assist in setting up for in-services, special demonstrations, functions, and activities for students, staff, faculty, and the public within Navajo Preparatory School, Inc. guidelines and procedures.
    • Organize work, set priorities, and meet critical deadlines.
    • Effective oral and written communication with staff, students, and faculty
    • Commit to a growth plan that relates to the scope of services provided to the School.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
    • Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately.

    EVALUATION

    Will be evaluated in accordance with the Navajo Preparatory School Board, Inc. policies and procedures.
