Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Responds to more complex requests from faculty, medical staff, and students. Additionally, Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) possess broad and current knowledge of medical developments and scientific literature. Requires a master's degree in library science. As the Chief Medical Officer for Penrose Hospital, you will be responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction and overall operational management of physician services and medical staff administration. This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer of the facility to develop strategic plans, policies and address operational issues that build effective relationships between the hospital and its Medical Staff to produce excellence in clinical outcomes.
