Chief Medical Officer directs the staff and develops policies for the organization's clinical programs. Works closely with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to ensure that the highest standards of quality and service are maintained. Being a Chief Medical Officer oversees the implementation of quality improvement efforts designed to improve clinical performance and maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulations and standards. Evaluates developments and innovations in medical care and makes recommendations for new practices and procedures. Additionally, Chief Medical Officer advises CEO and medical teams on matters impacting patient care. Requires a MD. Requires State License to Practice Medicine. Typically reports to top management. The Chief Medical Officer manages a business unit, division, or corporate function with major organizational impact. Establishes overall direction and strategic initiatives for the given major function or line of business.     Are you a passionate clinician interested in transforming primary care? MaineHealth is looking for a Chief Medical and Clinical Transformation Officer for Apollo, a newly formed, wholly owned, for-profit subsidiary of the health system. The focus of this new entity is on primary care innovation and disruption, with the goal of creating and testing new models in an environment allowing for rapid decision-making and execution.
     
    The Chief Medical and Clinical Transformation Officer will collaborate with Apollo’s President to design, implement and practice within a new primary care enterprise that exceeds healthcare’s quadruple aim. This opportunity is open to both physicians and advanced practice providers.
     
    Key Responsibilities and Desired Outcomes
    • Takes the lead in developing the details of the clinical delivery program, including determining the care team composition and model, along with the patient engagement strategy.
    • Validates, through practice, the primary care model and iterates from data and feedback.
    • Provides clinical subject matter expertise to all aspects of the care program.
    • Delivers excellence in quality, safety, and patient experience.
    • Leads the daily clinical operations of Apollo as an “on the ground” care team member.
    • Hires and trains all healthcare professionals.
    • Acts as an additional liaison between Apollo, MaineHealth, partners, payers and the public.
    • Assists in assessing clinical vendor partnerships in building out the full stack clinical model.
    • Works with the President to determine how to scale the enterprise.
     
    Ideal Experience
    • Demonstrated passion for providing clinical care, ultimately engaging and delighting patients.
    • Evidenced outcomes around changing the status quo in primary care.
    • Proven ability to manage a variety of patient populations.
    • A track record of building thriving teams in a fast-paced environment that can carefully weigh options and risks.
    • Operational experience in a risk-based payment structure.
    • Leadership experience in an integrated, team-based care model.
    • Entrepreneurial background of designing and building new clinical programs in advanced primary care.
    • MD, DO, DNP, NP, or PA.
