      • Full-time position available on or after April 7, 2025 in the Office of the President.


        The Chief of Staff serves as a strategic advisor and operational leader for the Office of the President. This role supports the President in achieving the university’s mission, overseeing project management, coordinating executive functions, and ensuring efficient internal and external communication. The Chief of Staff acts as a bridge between the President’s office and various departments, stakeholders, and the broader community.


      • Job Duties

      • Duties include but are not limited to:
        • Act as a key advisor to the President on strategic initiatives, university policies, and emerging issues.
        • Participate in executive planning and provide input on policy decisions, institutional priorities, and campus-wide initiatives.
        • Monitor the progress of university strategic goals and advise on adjustments or improvements.
        • Oversee the daily operations of the Office of the President, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
        • Coordinate projects and initiatives, track timelines, and ensure deliverables meet standards and deadlines.
        • Implement operational policies and procedures for enhanced office efficiency.
        • Ensure President is prepared for CSU Board of Trustees and Executive Leadership Team meetings and facilitate follow-up actions as needed.
        • Facilitate effective communication between the President and university stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, System officials, and external organizations.
        • Draft communications, speeches, presentations, and reports on behalf of the President.
        • Serve as a liaison with senior university officials, System officials, trustees, and external partners.
        • Oversee staff within the Office of the President, promoting a collaborative and efficient work environment.
        • Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance on professional growth and performance.
        • Coordinate and attend meetings on behalf of the President as necessary.
        • Prepare meeting agendas, compile briefing materials, and ensure follow-up actions are completed.
        • Represent the President’s interests and maintain a high level of professionalism in all engagements.
        • Assist in the development and implementation of university policies and procedures.
        • Research and analyze policies, organizational practices, and institutional data to provide informed recommendations.
        • Collaborate with the President and senior leadership on policy-related initiatives.
        • Support the President and senior leadership in managing institutional risks and crises. • Develop response strategies for potential or ongoing issues, including campus safety and reputational matters.
        • Communicate with stakeholders to provide information and reassurance as needed.
        • Serve as a member of the security and emergency management teams.
        • Other duties as assigned.
      • Minimum Qualifications

      • Education: Master’s degree from an accredited university in a related field.

        Experience: Minimum of seven years in a senior administrative role, preferably within higher education or a similarly complex organizational environment.

      • Preferred Qualifications


        • Advanced degree from an accredited university, particularly in higher education administration, public administration, business, law, or related field.
        • More than 7 years of progressively responsible experience in an executive advisor capacity, preferably in higher education.
        • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred for effective communication with a diverse range of campus constituents and external partners.

      • Salary Range

      • Anticipated salary will be $ $15,833 - $16,667 per month plus excellent paid benefits. Salary will depend on the qualifications of the successful finalist.
