Chief Nurse Anesthetist manages and schedules Nurse Anesthetists who plan, arrange and secure necessary anesthesia equipment. Aids Anesthesiologist in organizing courses of instruction for students, and partakes in resulting programs and demonstrations. Being a Chief Nurse Anesthetist prepares reports and compiles data dealing with specific anesthesia, drugs and techniques, and patients' reactions to them. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Chief Nurse Anesthetist requires Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Vaughan Regional Medical Center is seeking a full time CRNA to join our team.

    In this role you will administers anesthetic care for patients requiring anesthesia, sedation, and/or pain relief therapy. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

    Performs and documents a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation/education of the patient.


    Administers pre-anesthesia medication as well as anesthesia (general, regional, local, or moderate sedations).


    Develops and implements a plan of care, including post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care.

    Provides invasive and noninvasive monitoring of patient's condition and responds to abnormal responses

    Assists with providing emergent care by providing airway management; administering emergency fluids, blood, and
    drugs; and performing life support techniques.

    Performs clinical support functions including managing materials and supplies and developing clinical policies and procedures

    Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

    Reports to: Chief CRNA


    Qualifications

    Minimum education
    Master's degree (Must be a graduate of an Anesthesia Education Program)  Required


    Required Licenses
    Anesthetist, Certified Registered Nurse


    Currently licensed as a CRNA by the Alabama Board of Nursing and the National Board of Certification &
    Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)

    Current Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in the state of Alabama

    Certifications:
     Basic Life Support (BLS)

     Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

    Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

    BLS must be current within 30 days from hire date. ACLS & PALS must be current within 6 months from hire date.
