Child Care Center Director (Hosp. Op.) directs the daily operations of a child care center in accordance with state licensing requirements and regulations. Administers recruiting and staffing processes. Being a Child Care Center Director (Hosp. Op.) provides training and professional development for staff. Oversees enrollment activities, communications, and events that foster positive relations with families and the community. Additionally, Child Care Center Director (Hosp. Op.) ensures that the activities and surroundings meet the needs of children and provide safety and security. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in early childhood education or equivalent. Depending on the location, may require a state specific director certification or a more general certification such as the Child Development Associate (CDA). Typically requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Typically reports to senior management. The Child Care Center Director (Hosp. Op.) typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.     Responsible for managing wound care staff. Directs all wound care service activities – making recommendations for staff/patient ratios. Serves as liaison between staff and administration. Promotes productivity of staff. Develops and implements policies and procedures and accreditation standards. Performs other duties as assigned or requested. This is an exempt position.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Wound Care Service Management

    • Provides supervision of wound care staff; provides back-up staffing as needed.
    • Assesses, plans, monitors and coordinates plan of care from admission to discharge.
    • Directs all wound are service activities, making recommendations for staff/patient ratios by program.
    • Serves as liaison between staff and administration.
    • Promotes and monitors productivity of staff.
    • Develops and implements policies and procedures for wound care, in compliance with hospital policies and procedures and accreditation standards.
    • Implements strategies to improve wound care service functions.
    • Promotes and maintains harmonious relationships with the medical staff.
    • Cooperates with other departments and shares resources appropriately.
    • Assures adherence to hospital-wide, as well as service area, safety and infection control procedures by: Disseminating information to staff regarding safety, internal and external disaster, infection control, and administrative policies. Routinely conducting intradepartmental staff meetings. Providing staff counseling and commendation as appropriate.
    • Assures that all physical properties in wound care areas are kept in good state of repair and operating condition by: Maintaining safe and clean dept. Justifying replacement and new equipment purchase. Assuring equipment inventory is up to date. Providing equipment and safety inservices as needed.
    • Implements, supervises and coordinates the wound care services by: Insuring evaluation, treatment, and reevaluation are timely. Assuring discharge planning. Reviewing and revising policies and procedures as necessary. Reviewing the program on an annual basis.
    • Serves on committees requested and completes assigned tasks in a timely fashion.
    • Acts as a liaison between other Post Acute Medical departments and facilities.

    Staff Education Management

    • Assures competency of staff by providing administrative oversight of orientation and inservice training programs for professional and nonprofessional nursing staff by: Assuring proper credentialing of all new nursing staff. Assuring orientation of new staff to service area and hospital policies, procedures and routines. Assuring the planning and organizing of inservices related to rehabilitation nursing, safety, infection control, new equipment, etc.
    • Implements a clinical skills lab, based on the needs of the facility.

    Patient Care Quality Improvement Management

    • Assures planning and implementation of a quality assurance and improvement program by: Assigning responsibility. Delineating the scope of care. Identifying important aspects of care. Identifying indicators. Establishing thresholds for evaluation. Collecting and organizing data. Evaluating care being monitored. Taking action to solve identified problems. Assessing the actions and documenting improvement. Communicating relevant information to the organization’s QI program.
    • Is available for 24 hour call as necessary. Performs duties of wound care nurse as necessary. Represents nursing in hospital-wide planning, medical staff, safety, and quality assessment and improvement council. Attends and participates in interdepartmental meetings. Provides input to administration about projects or programs that would enhance the direction of the hospital.

    Employee Health Infection Control Program Management

    • Provides clinical supervision for the activities and performance of the staff member assigned to Employee Health and Infection Control functions.
    • Monitors trends, outcomes and assures appropriate reporting and compliance with regulations.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Training: Must possess RN licensure in good standing. Has current CPR certification and maintains same. Wound Care Certification.

    Experience: Minimum of five years nursing experience is required; three years experience in wound care supervisory roles, with increasing responsibility desired.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Verbal ability to express ideas and views effectively when speaking to groups, hospital managers and personnel.
    • Cognitive ability to gather and analyze data and prepare reports and to evaluate reports, programs and other data against both judgmental and verifiable criteria.
    • Numerical ability to evaluate statistical data and to make various computations in planning departmental operations and budget.
    • Organizational ability to plan and control the entire activities of the nursing service department, etc.
