Teacher Description
The childcare teacher will work as a team with the management staff and other teachers to implement the childcare program. The team will assist in carrying out the childcare mission and values by providing high-quality childcare services to children and parents.
Responsibilities
· Plan and implement the daily curriculum plans and activities.
· Assist in supervising children and participate with children in activities.
· Maintain program site and equipment.
· Communicate with parents on an ongoing basis and plan parent conferences.
· Complete with daily observations and child evaluations.
· Provide guidance for children’s behavior.
· Other duties or tasks as designated by the management team.
· Represent the Center in the community.
· Establish and maintain a healthy, safe, and enjoyable working and learning environment for staff, parents, children, and visitors.
· A commitment to working with children in a developmental setting and a sincere desire to have a meaningful effect on their lives.
· Perform all physical aspects of the position, including frequently moving around, bending, reaching, and routinely lifting 30 pounds at a time.
· Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/ dangerous situations.
· May provide children with assistance in dealing with issues such as personal hygiene, medical needs, toileting, diapering and feeding.
· May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions, or bodily fluids as a part of the childcare environment.
· Must be able to pass background check, physical exam, and fingerprinting.
· Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
· Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
· Ability to meet Iowa DHS standards and regulations for childcare employees.
Experience
· Caregiving: 1 Year (preferred)
· Childcare: 1 year (preferred)
Qualifications
· CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire.
· Current physical exam.
· Fingerprinting within 60 days of hire.
· Six professional development DHS approved credits each year.
· Implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
· Flexibility and ability to work independently while cooperating with other staff, participants, and volunteers.
· Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
the community.
Schedule
· Day shift
