Engineering Intern
T. Baker Smith, LLC is seeking motivated Interns looking for professional, technical day to day support and input from Project Engineers and/or Project Managers, in carrying out the scopes of work in accordance with the proposal and/or the contract terms.
As a valued member of the TBS team, you will:
- Primarily responsible for providing technical support in the development/design of assigned engineering projects.
- Develop feasible design alternatives and compare significant parameters.
- Identify and analyze the principal design features and major design alternatives.
- Assist in the development of detailed plans, specifications, and cost estimates with project team.
- Produce and revise drawings, sketches, and plans in accordance with project standards.
- Review and analyze field notes, data, and calculations.
- Research specifications and materials.
- Assist in obtaining legal or other required documents, including landowner permission.
- Coordinate work assignments with project team.
- Communicate changes in workload or project scope with project manager.
- Achieve the scope, budget, and schedule of the project under the direction of the project
- manager.
- Promote all resources offered by the firm to existing and potential clients.
- Organize and maintain project files.
- Maintain neat and organized work area.
- Maintain current knowledge of equipment, techniques, procedures, and regulations.
- Participate in professional development and training.
- Completing a presentation to management of internship experience.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Working towards or have earned a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Completion of Fundamentals Engineering Exam within 12 months of employment.
- Ability to relate to clients and people at all levels of the organization and must possess excellent communication and diplomacy skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings and the most complex documents.
- Ability to operate computer, using technical software, which includes computer, aided drafting and other applications, spreadsheets, and other business software.
