Civil Engineer designs and supervises construction projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, or roads. Reviews designs, tests and assesses materials, and performs necessary data collection and calculations in areas such as traffic forecasting, soil capacity, groundwater analysis, and structure design. Being a Civil Engineer responsibilities also include estimating costs, estimating personnel and material needs, preparing proposals, and establishing completion dates. May also assist in inspecting aging infrastructure or overseeing improvement projects. Additionally, Civil Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. May require a Professional Engineer License (PE). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Civil Engineer work is closely managed.     Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Traffic Engineer to be based in Indianapolis, IN .

    Position Summary:

    • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer

    • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures

    • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests

    • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments

    • Identifies discrepancies in results

    • Provides guidance to entry level engineers

    • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision

    • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design

    • elements for engineering works

    • Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position

    • Works with team to identify arterial performance issues caused by traffic incidents along the freeways and activates appropriate changes to the traffic signals to reduce congestion

    • Works with engineering team to deploy alternate timing plans for a system of more than 2500 connected traffic signals

    • Identify performance issues with traffic signal performance and work with engineering teams to find solutions


    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • BA/BS 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education


    Preferred Qualification:

    • Registered Engineer with the state of Indiana

    • Past experience in TSMO

    • Experience with timing of traffic signal systems

    Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $120,000.00 - $150,000.00.
