Lead Human Resources Assistant (Military/Office Automation)

  • Duties

    • Administer required briefings to applicants concerning Military Entrance Processing Command (MEPS) procedures.
    • Greet visitors and applicants to the MEPS.
    • Operate a keyboard to record and transcribe alpha numeric data.
    • Obtain fingerprints using automated systems.
    • Prepare travel orders and reviews accounting data for accuracy.
    • Question applicants to obtain and/or verify complete data required for final data processing of forms and records for entry into military service.
    • Distribute workload among employees.
    • Provide technical guidance and training.

    In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

    Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Reviewing applicant documents for accuracy; 2) Verifying document information with applicants through verbal and/or written communication; 3) Assembling and/or distributing applicant enlistment record packets; and 4) Maintaining records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

    This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.

    Education
