Overview
Our company, Pacific Rim Design & Development, is looking for a Construction Manager who has experience as a purchasing agent, to coordinate and supervise our team of crew members, source and order equipment. The manager will be responsible for supervising and assisting workers and will work closely with the President to coordinate construction work and source specialized equipment needed for an innovative air cleaning process. As the manager you will play a crucial role in building unique equipment from technical drawings and plans for innovative design projects, and order equipment designed to meet exact specifications.
You will oversee crew, ensure construction equipment is properly maintained, and keep projects on schedule. You should be extremely organized with excellent time management, leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Responsibilities
- Read project plans, drawings, specifications, and blueprints
- Oversee the construction site and supervise the use of machinery and equipment
- Delegate responsibilities and tasks to crew members according to priorities and plans
- Emphasize safe use of all tools and equipment and enforce the proper use of safety gear, like helmets and goggles
- Manage crew to ensure the project is kept on schedule
- Manage purchases by sourcing and forwarding orders to suppliers, and monitoring and expediting orders.
- Verify receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered, resolve shipment errors with suppliers.
Skills and qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of construction procedures and equipment
- Ability to read and understand drawings, blueprints, and construction plans
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to problem-solve and fix routine errors
- In-depth knowledge of safety guidelines and best practices
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction, and/or operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Strong managerial skills

- Ability to train and supervise workers
- Expertise in sourcing and supervising construction materials, such as tools and various industrial equipment
