Position Summary:
A CNC programmer writes code using CAM software for machine tools such as CNC mills, CNC Routers, CNC lathes to manufacture parts made of metal, composite, wood, plastic etc. Knowledgable of Fanuc and G-code a plus.
Responsibilities:
· Analyzes job order and performs necessary calculations.
· Writes programs and modifies existing ones for increased efficiency and creates instructions for machinists, using knowledge of tools and their applications.
· Reviews 3D CAD design blueprints to make calculations for programming, including where materials should be cut.
· Checks completed programs by running simulations or tests.
· Prepares geometric layout of designs using proper software and determines sequence of operations in a program.
· Chooses cutting tools that will be needed and analyzes/selects speeds and feeds cutting tools for programs.
· Makes improvements to set up and cycle times of existing programs.
· Evaluates all completed designs to validate they meet specifications.
· Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
· Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
· Pass pre-employment and random DOT regulated drug and/or alcohol tests.
Required:
· High School diploma.
· Associate degree or equivalent experience in CNC programming with knowledge of Fanuc and G-code.
