Job Description

Position may be optionally filled in Washington, DC, however the primary team resides in Quantico, VA

Onsite Work required, potential for hybrid may be available after 90 days.

SVD Solutions is seeking a skilled Sr. Engineer with proficiency Linux Systems Administration and a focus on Web Technologies.  This position will require the candidate to create internal websites that track platform-specific data center inventories.  The successful candidate will have experience with some Linux tools like CodeIgniter (or similar, based on candidate experience/preference) and php.  This role will also perform some portions of Linux system administration alongside others in the same group that perform similar functions.  Preference given to candidates that also have experience maintaining MariaDB/MySQL and Postgres.  Having knowledge of certain networking configurations is a plus, but not required.

The system environment consists of approximately 40 servers in the core as well as some other tools such as Splunk, tat are maintained by the group of 3 other technical staff with similar roles.  Any areas of deficiencies in the requirements may be acceptable depending on the candidate's willingness to learn as the other team members are willing to perform knowledge transfer for the right candidate. Training is available to further enhance the successful candidate's skillset.  Primary focus is on the establishment of the internal business-oriented websites and the Linux system administration required to maintain the webservers' functionality.  Web Frontend experience required to create functional websites to use within the department.

Requirements:

• Current and Active Top Secret Clearance
• Upon hire, must be willing to take and successfully pass a CI polygraph test
• Minimum of 8 years of total Linux administration experience in a group setting, or 4 years Linux experience with a bachelor’s degree
• Experience with PHP, Codeigniter (or like product)
• Exceptional communication skills with emphasis on effectively communicating detailed analysis and recommendations.
• Experience working in collaborative sessions
• Experience producing technical functions with Linux and Linus web technologies
• Ability to recognize problems and opportunities and evaluate strengths and weaknesses of potential solutions to problems

Desired Experience:

• Familiarity with SQL, such as MariaDB/MySQL and Postgres
• Familiarly with Cisco networking products is a plus, but not required
