Clinical Ethicist offers guidance to patients, their families, and professional staff on ethical, legal and policy issues and concerns stemming from clinical interactions between health care professionals and patients. Provides guidance to the institutional ethics committee pertaining to policy formulation and educational and case review activities. Being a Clinical Ethicist develops institutional policies concerning ethical issues such as "do-not-resuscitate" and "withdrawal of life-support". Requires a master's degree or doctorate related to health ethics. Additionally, Clinical Ethicist typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be a Clinical Ethicist typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. This unit caters to a diverse range of patients, including adolescents, adults, and geriatric individuals. The Med Surg unit provides comprehensive care for those with both acute and chronic conditions, addressing a variety of medical needs and diagnoses. Whether managing complex cases or routine care, the Hospital Medical Surgical Nurse Director's team is dedicated to delivering top-notch medical intervention and support to all age groups.
