Clinical Facilities Planning Manager manages professional services for assigned projects concerning design, construction, development, or installation of hospital buildings and facilities. Oversees all aspects of construction including progress, timing, costs and contracts.   • The Facilities Manager position is a salary-based position that manages the facilities team and works closely with the leadership of Prentice Hospitality Group. This role is to ensure a safe and efficient work environment that optimizes guests, staff, and community utilization. Reports to designated property’s Hotel Manager and PHG leadership.

    Duties for the Director of facilities will include, rough carpentry, plumbing, and HVAC duties, implementing policies and safety procedures of the Chebeague Island Inn, engaging with vendors and contractors, and helping to support the preparation of the facilities budget. Other duties include managing and monitoring expenditures, testing equipment, forecasting capital expenditures, ensuring compliance with all state and federal testing and code requirements. Through the management of these activities the goal of this position is to safely maximize the operational efficiencies of the campus.

    The candidate for this role should possess excellent written and oral communication, organization skills, computer and technology skills and a broad knowledge of business functions and management experience. The candidate will need to possess an understanding of all technical aspects of the property, support day to day operations, ensure efficient use of facilities staff and vendors.

    Chebeague Island Inn is nestled on 2.5 acres of stunning oceanfront land, with panoramic views of golden sunrises and crimson sunsets over Casco Bay. Our 21-room boutique hotel, just 20 minutes north of Portland, features serene and comfortable guest rooms, free of TVs and phones. With cozy garden or water views, our rooms exude a peaceful aura, perfect for relaxing after a day of island adventures or wedding celebrations.

    Key Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Approach all encounters with guests & employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
    • Monitor, manage, and support all the Building Management systems for the campus.
    • Develop and implement a facility management program including a comprehensive plan for preventative maintenance and life cycle requirements
    • Read and interpret paperwork, including all plans and specifications, subcontractor work orders, change orders. Bring questions, discrepancies, and unusual conditions to the attention of the to the VP of Operations and GM.
    • Perform rough carpentry duties as needed according to plans, such as wall framing, roof construction, siding repairs, deck/porch construction, etc.
    • Perform finish carpentry duties as needed according to plans, such as installing windows and doors, trim, base moldings, handrails, cabinet hardware, accessories, etc.
    • Use high-level problem-solving skills to determine solutions that are both structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing.
    • Stay up to date on the basic concepts and methods used by trade contractors, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
    • Purchase and maintain company equipment and tools as needed.
    • Coordinate with Hotel Manager and PHG Leadership to oversee the utilization of the Inn’s amenities, court yards, etc.
    • Review Maintenance team’s worked hours for payroll compilation and submit to accounting in a timely manner.
    • Coordinate appropriate facility maintenance staffing levels with Hotel Manager; develop and train necessary support
    • Reviews all physical security precautions and procedures and recommends additions and changes in service as appropriate
    • Research, develop and implement cost reduction initiatives
    • Assist the HM in preparation of the facilities budget
    • Generate and present regular reports and reviews of facility-related budgets, finances, contracts, expenditures, and purchases
    • Perform a variety of hands-on tasks including electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and general maintenance.
    • Manage general and preventative maintenance functions to ensure guest service and sustainability standards are achieved and maintained throughout the property.
    • Inspect ongoing and completed work by contractors and vendors
    • Provide prompt response to requests and issues from the Inn’s guests and staff
    • Ensure delivery schedules, quantity and quality criteria are met
    • Respond to facility and equipment alarms and systems failure
    • Coordinate all inspections of the fire safety systems, including extinguishers, smoke alarms, etc. to maintain proper safety standards.
    • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with managers, employees, and other departments.
    • Plan and manage all repair and installation activities.
    • Obtain bids, hire contractors, and maintain relationships with outside companies.
    • Conduct daily inspections of the facilities to detect and resolve problems, as well as maintain the building exterior and curb appeal of the property.
    • Perform and maintain work to local, state, and Federal codes.
    • Perform any other duties as required by the Hotel Manager and PHG Leadership.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    Education and Experience

    • Must have at least 5 years carpentry experience
    • 3 years of Facilities Management experience preferred
    • Preferred experience in sustainable materials and construction assemblies
    • Proficiency in all trades, including; frame to finish carpentry, electrical wiring, plumbing, masonry, and painting a strong plus
    • Working knowledge of financial principles and practices
    • Working knowledge of procurement and contracts
    • Working knowledge of principles and practices of business administration
    • Must have a strong work ethic and take pride in all work
    • Must have computer and systems knowledge
    • The ability to work efficiently without wasting materials and possessing reliable transportation and tools

    • Must possess ability to read building codes, blueprints, and drawings
    • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and tools of the trade required
    • Must be willing to pass a criminal background check in compliance with regulations
