    Who We Are

Boston Consulting Group partners with leaders in business and society to tackle their most important challenges and capture their greatest opportunities. BCG was the pioneer in business strategy when it was founded in 1963. Today, we help clients with total transformation-inspiring complex change, enabling organizations to grow, building competitive advantage, and driving bottom-line impact.

To succeed, organizations must blend digital and human capabilities. Our diverse, global teams bring deep industry and functional expertise and a range of perspectives to spark change. BCG delivers solutions through leading-edge management consulting along with technology and design, corporate and digital ventures—and business purpose. We work in a uniquely collaborative model across the firm and throughout all levels of the client organization, generating results that allow our clients to thrive.

    Practice Area

The Operations Practice (OPS) Area is one of BCG's largest functional practices. We help our clients create competitive advantage by enhancing their performance and building strategic capabilities. BCG’s expertise in Operations covers the following areas - supply chain management, procurement, manufacturing, service operations, cost efficiency, operational transformation, research & product development, program and project management, all with a strong digital and analytics overlay.

    What You'll Do

BCG is growing! We are looking for looking for Expert Project Leader consultants focused in Procurement, who will partner with clients to take on their most difficult challenges, transform mindsets, create outstanding value, and build capabilities that enable organizations to achieve sustainable advantage. Ideal candidates will have previous industry and management consulting experience and demonstrated leadership in growing client relations, people and knowledge development. They will possess significant experience in procurement with depth in strategic sourcing and a genuine passion for problem-solving.

As an Expert Project Leader, you will lead and execute casework for procurement clients, developing strategies to optimize procurement processes and enhance supply chain management. You will be integrated into a BCG team and leverage your deep expertise on projects that reshape businesses. You will be given end-to-end responsibility for large and complex “modules” within a BCG project and may lead small but high-impact teams to drive results for our procurement clients. You will work closely with clients to understand their issues, create strategies for change, and win buy-in for your recommendations, while also collaborating with colleagues on complex client issues. Your expertise will be valued by senior clients and you will help build and contribute to BCG’s intellectual capital while spending significant time supporting and executing case work.

    Our Expert Consulting Track

The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.

    What You'll Bring

    • 5-10 years of professional experience in procurement, including 2 of those years in management consulting
    • Industry experience in industrial goods, energy, oil and gas, or transportation preferred
    • Experience in direct materials sourcing and management of programmatic efforts
    • Proven expertise in cost reductions, category strategy development, and negotiations
    • Track record of collaboration with senior executives. Must be comfortable delivering formal presentations to management
    • Strong management and communication skills. The ability to bring together all stakeholders and persuade senior clients to take action is essential
    • Strong analytical skills and a high capacity for conceptual thinking. Ability to develop leading edge business models, frameworks for analysis, and long-term business strategies that maximize shareholder value. Must be able to thrive in a hypothesis-based environment where inductive rather than deductive reasoning is the norm
    • Proven ability to manage client engagements, client relationships, and provide “thought leadership” to teams, owning the responsibility for the quality of engagements
    • A combination of management and “hands on” delivery experience is critical
    • A solid track record of building strong client relationships with large organizations, as well as identifying opportunities to deepen those relationships and grow the business
    • A degree from a top-tier institution preferred

    Who You'll Work With

The Operations (OPS) practice area is one of BCG's largest functional practice areas. We serve five broad business lines: Manufacturing & Supply Chain Management, Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, Service & Support, Design Engineer Build, and Operational E2E Cost & Efficiency. We help companies think beyond the limits of their traditional business models, choose where and how they should add value, and reorganize to defend themselves against new threats and seize new opportunities. The Operations practice provides the capabilities and the experts to help our clients create competitive advantage by enhancing their performance and enabling them on their journey to operational excellence.

You’ll collaborate with BCG team members from many backgrounds and disciplines in a team-oriented, relationship-driven environment. Working alongside some of the world’s top minds on cases that reshape business, government and society, you will increase your understanding of complex business problems from diverse perspectives and develop new skills. At the same time, you’ll partner with senior clients, taking on the role of trusted advisor, and work at all levels of the client organization to find and execute value creation strategies that result in meaningful, enduring impact.
