POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Resident/Intern may provide the following services as they gain competence and proficiency in the practice of pastoral care. The CPE Resident/Intern may be responsible for assessing and attending to the spiritual needs of patients, their families, and employees, particularly in times of spiritual distress brought on by life threatening or life altering medical diagnoses and procedures. The CPE Resident/Intern may serve patients and family in time of transition such as death and dying and provides decedent care. The CPE Resident/Intern may provide assistance in resolution of bio-ethical concerns. As a service to the Medical Center staff, spiritual counseling and support may be offered through group work, religious services, Medical Center celebrations, and other methods. The CPE Resident/Intern may represent the Medical Center to the broader religious community and the surrounding areas.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School Diploma/ GED, Has completed a curriculum of theological classes and displays skills and competencies in pastoral care. Experience: N/A Licensure/ Certification: N/A Other Skills/ Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented. Has completed a curriculum of theological classes and displays skills and competencies in pastoral care. Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension and expression. Abides and adheres to the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services, as expected by the canonical sponsors, Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis. Abides and adheres to the Standards of ACPE. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Masters of divinity, a masters of theology, or its equivalents are preferred. . Experience: Two years of active participation and membership in good standing in a recognized faith community is preferred. Licensure/ Certification: At least one unit of CPE from an ACPE Center is preferred. Other Skills/ Knowledge: Ordination or commissioning by a recognized religious and spiritual organization is preferred.
