Cloud Systems Architect is responsible for the design and management of an organization's cloud systems, applications, policies, and strategy. Evaluates and identifies the best cloud solutions for the organization. Being a Cloud Systems Architect develops and modifies scalable architecture to support applications and infrastructure-as-a-service (IAAS) and platform-as-a-service (PAAS) platforms. Ensures the security and compliance of cloud environments, including data protection and privacy. Additionally, Cloud Systems Architect monitors and analyzes cloud infrastructure performance to identify and resolve issues proactively. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud-based environments for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Designs controls and processes that utilize available audit tools. Maintains up-to-date and extensive knowledge of cloud products and technology. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Cloud Systems Architect works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.     Complete Description

    The Azure Cloud Architect will be a support person to Infrastructure to assist with setting up Azure in a way that will benefit DEQ. The Department of Environment Quality works with the Department of Information and Technology and Microsoft Azure Support Teams for the design and implementation of groups, virtual machines, data bases, firewall rules and VPN tunnels from an operations and security standpoint for our Permit Transformation Project.

     

    A few tasks we know of now:

     

    • Setup of our Customer Owned environment, Create Images, Create VNet and VPN gateways, Create VDI machines based on Custom Images.
    • Setup Intune for management of VDI machines, assign to resources and resource groups in high, medium and low zones.
    • Document DevOps environment and setup proper rights.
    • Knowledge share and training with my team during any down time.

     

     

    Required/Desired Skills

     

    Skill Required/Desired Amount of Experience •Azure Cloud Architect, to include Custom Imaging and VDI/Hypervisor, InTune and MDM management, VNet and Resource Groups and Azure VPN gateways. Required 5 Years • Demonstrated knowledge of directory services (Azure AD and AD) Required 5 Years • Must have great Interpersonal and leadership skills - leadership, collaboration, facilitation, negotiation, and documentation skills. Required 5 Years • Demonstrated knowledge of cloud computing and management (groups, users, virtual machines, etc.) Required 5 Years •Require a thorough knowledge of firewalls (access groups, rules, ports and specific pinhole connections), and interoperations between technologies Required 5 Years • Require a thorough knowledge of implementing secure, best practices, access for the confidential data and availability between all infrastructures. Required 5 Years • Strong written and oral communication skills. Required 5 Years
