SECTION I-JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY: (State Purpose and General Responsibilities)
Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer and under the direct supervision of the Chief Technology Officer. Develops plans to optimize data center and remote sites by monitoring performance, memory storage, security, networking, and growth requirements meeting the technical needs of the county. Works closely with the CIO, CTO, CISO, Support, and Applications teams, monitoring performance, security, and functionality for IT. Providing insight and recommendations for budgetary planning for continued growth and security of the technology infrastructure. Provides network and security support for all servers and network devices. Responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, and maintaining Cameron County's Network and Operations Center. Recommends and enforces networking policies and procedures as approved by the Department, including all other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (State the minimum requirements for formal education and job-related experience.)
Bachelor's degree in information technology or Related Field Must have at least 5 years of experience in the information technology field with similar duties and responsibilities. Proficient in Microsoft server operating systems. Experience with Active Directory (AD), Group Policy (GPO'S), Domain Managed Services (DNS), Experience with Virtual Environments, and backup technologies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:(As utilized in the performance of the Essential Functions of the job.)
Good working knowledge of Intel-based computers, Windows, and Linux. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Active Directory and administration methodologies. An understanding of PC components commensurate with A certification. Must demonstrate continual growth with new and current technologies, Windows operating systems, and network connectivity. Required to have advanced skills utilizing TCP/IP protocol and network security concepts and design commensurate with Network . Ability to use Visio to generate proper network diagrams and maintain them current. Provide insight and maintenance to ensure proper operation of the management of the County network.

Physical requirements include lifting/carrying 5-100 lbs. Subject to working in awkward positions, within ceilings, walls, and other crawl spaces. Will require loading and unloading cargo on County pickup or other transportation vehicles. Job has a critical impact on the Information Services Department operations and public image. Primary responsibility is providing network support to County departments and personnel by minimizing downtime and system disruptions.

This position is subject to a six (6) month probationary period prior to Civil Service eligibility. Must submit to a Civil Service Clerical Exam.
