Coil Slitter Operator
Duties:
Operate and maintain slitting machines to cut materials according to specifications
- Set up and adjust machine settings, including blade positioning and tension control
- Monitor machine operations to ensure proper cutting and feeding of materials
- Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or malfunctions with the machine
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on the machine to ensure optimal performance
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area
Requirements:
Previous experience operating slitting machines or similar equipment
- Knowledge of programming and setting up machine controls
- Familiarity with using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Ability to perform quality inspections to ensure products meet specifications
- Basic understanding of machining processes and techniques
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Good problem-solving skills to troubleshoot machine issues
Responsibilities:
1. Ensures that Slitter Set Up person has mounted the correct knives and positioned them correctly onto slitting.
2. Makes adjustments to tables, conveyors and rollers to ensure that steel coil are properly positioned over the slitting knives.
3. Directs the helper to monitor the process, tag and band finished coils and off load finished coils.
4. Constantly monitors cutting process to ensure accuracy of cut, “drop” of the coil and speed of the machine.
5. Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process and quality system.
6. Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system.
7. Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
8. Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have a minimum of 1 years’ experience operating a metal slitter.
2. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
