Coil Winder/Taper/Finisher jobs in West Hartford, CT

The East Granby, CT team is seeking a Manufacturing Technician for Coil Winding in our Sensors group.  This position is responsible for ensuring delicate optical fiber coils are precisely shaped by machinery and requires sustained attention to minute detail.  The team works together in a controlled environment that requires gowning. 

Our 2nd shift schedule is Monday - Friday, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Manufacture optical fiber coils for use in gyroscopes
• Start and run computer controlled machines/equipment
• Work per standard operation procedures
• Document the manufacturing process as required
• Inspect parts/coils under microscope
• Perform basic fiber test to coil packs
• Perform basic equipment maintenance
• Troubleshoot equipment as needed
• Assist engineers as needed
• Cross-training in other areas as needed

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience or practice executing delicate tasks with small, fragile parts such as in fiber coil winding (ideal) or other work/activities such as watch/jewelry making or repairs
• Optical fiber coiling or handling experience desired
• Experience with inspection or working with precision under microscope desired
• Process documentation experience desire

Skills

• Computer literacy including data entry in Excel
• Ability to see details at close range
• Excellent hand to eye coordination
