  • The Office of the Governor, Division of Administrative Services, is looking for a Procurement Specialist to join our team!

    What you will be doing: 

    This position has wide and varying duties so you will never be bored. This position assists the lead Procurement staff with the management and oversite of various procurements and other customer service functions for the department. This position prepares, processes, and administers purchase orders, delivery orders, telephone service requests, building maintenance requests, contract extensions, encumbering contractual obligations, obtaining quotes, and notices of award. Other duties may include reviewing and assisting with office relocations and assisting with construction oversite during renovation projects.

    • Knowledge of the state's Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS) is desired.

    One-year of professional procurement experience including developing specifications, soliciting price quotes, issuing contracts, and working with end users and suppliers.

    Alaska Driver's License.

    Substitutions:   A bachelor's degree in business administration, supply management, or another related field may substitute for professional work experience. 

    A cover letter is required for this position. Applicants should address the following areas:

    • Describe your experience working with program experts to develop specifications and award criteria for procurements.
    • Describe your procurement experience using IRIS.
    • Describe your experience in reading, interpreting, explaining and applying the Alaska state procurement statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures.  Describe your ability to apply these principals to complex and diverse purchasing requests.
    • Describe your experience conducting formal and/or informal procurements. Include experience soliciting price quotes, preparing negotiated abstracts, negotiating price, issuing awards, administrating contracts, issuing amendments, preparing change orders, maintaining procurement files, and responding to protests.
    • Describe your experience prioritizing and completing multiple assignments within the required timeframe.
    • Describe your ability to adapt to a constantly changing and political sensitive work environment, while maintaining a positive relationship with team members.
    • Describe your ability and willingness make emergency purchases.
