Role: |
|
To preserve the Credit Union's assets by managing the Collections department efforts and implementing strategic initiatives to coincide with Credit Union growth and direction through improving processes, managing staff, and identifying ways to decrease delinquency and charge-offs while increasing recoveries. |
|
Essential Functions & Responsibilities: |
| E | 25% | Oversee all aspects of TSCU’s collection and recovery efforts and initiate programs and procedures to adjust to the changing economic environments and new product initiatives. |
| E | 25% | Exhibit strong leadership presence by engaging staff in modeling and setting clear expectations. Maintain a high level of cooperation and rapport with staff in order to ensure accurate and efficient operations and service. |
| E | 10% | Monitor progress of department staff and mentor staff to ensure achievement of personal performance goals. |
| E | 10% | Develop and recommend work-out strategies and collateral/credit enhancements. |
| E | 10% | Monitor tracking systems for all bankruptcies, suits, foreclosures and other post charge off activity. |
| E | 10% | Monitor collection practices and procedures and maintain written procedures manual regarding all collection functions including garnishments, judgments, and other legal proceedings. |
| E | 5% | Informs management of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charged-off loans. |
| N | 5% | Performs other job-related duties as assigned. |

Performance Measurements: |
| 1. | To maintain the Credit Union's charge-off and delinquent accounts at or below acceptable levels. |
| 2. | To maximize recovery and collection of Credit Union assets from delinquent and charge-off accounts. |
| 3. | To develop a staff of well-trained and effective collectors. |
| 4. | To provide friendly, professional, and accurate service to support all members and employees. |
| 5. | To manage and maintain proper legal proceedings and efforts. |
| 6. | To stay current and comply with all federal and state regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and all credit union policies and procedures. |

Knowledge and Skills: |
|
Experience | Ten years to fifteen years of similar or related experience |
|
|
Education | (1) Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program. |
|
|
Interpersonal Skills | Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication. |
|
|
Other Skills | Thorough understanding of delinquency management, loan & collateral documentation, loss mitigation and foreclosure process, repossession, bankruptcy and consumer credit collections regulations and laws required. Demonstrated knowledge of collateral valuations. |
