    About the Position:
    As the Vice President of Instruction, you will play a pivotal role in achieving equitable outcomes for students and the college. You will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all instructional programs. Reporting directly to the president, this position serves as the top Academic Officer and serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet.

    Job Responsibilities:
    1. Provides strategic, innovative leadership in the planning, implementation, assessment, and improvement of instructional programs and related services.  Aligns divisional goals, strategic initiatives, and budgets with College’s Strategic Plan mission, vision, goals and objectives. Collaborates to advance the college as a leader in equity, diversity and inclusion.
    2. Using a shared equity leadership framework, leads, manages, and participates in the continued evaluation and improvement of college-wide educational programs and services with a focus on equity, inclusion, and responsiveness to meet emerging or changing needs of a diverse student population, workforce, and community. Promotes educational access, retention, and completion of all students, recognizing that centering our most marginalized students’ needs is essential.
    3. Conducts and supports outreach to foster collaborative working relationships with businesses, industries, agencies, community organizations, and education institutions.  Serves as College representative on and actively participates in various statewide, college, and local committees, and attends events as appropriate.   
    4. Leads and advances best practices to ensure equity and inclusion in instructional program offerings, curriculum, services and the diversification of faculty, tutors, and staff demographics.
    5. Builds collaborative relationships with faculty and staff bargaining units. Ensures appropriate administration of and compliance with collective bargaining agreements. Assists in the preparation of proposals for negotiations, and serves on bargaining teams as needed. 
    6. Manages and supervises deans, directors, and staff, developing equity-minded teams representing diverse backgrounds.   Recruits, recommends, selects, and orients employees. Promotes and supports individual and team student-centered professional development and continuous learning opportunities which grow knowledge and skills, improves cultural responsivity, and cultivates welcoming and trauma informed working and learning environments. Evaluates employee performance, coaches, and takes corrective action as needed. 
    7. Participates in leadership for the College accreditation process.  Collaborates with the accreditation liaison officer, deans, faculty, and tutors to develop systems and processes to meet accreditation standards, and ensures divisional commitment and implementation.
    8. Provides operational direction for Instruction. Develops and administers a comprehensive instructional budget that ensures responsible stewardship of funds and actively considers equity and accessibility in program and physical resources. Works with instructional administrators to align budget with strategic goals and enrollment trends. Provides strategic direction in planning processes, and facilitates the implementation of the Academic Plan and applied baccalaureate degree(s). Facilitates the development of training and personal and professional development opportunities. 
    9. Initiates, monitors, and utilizes stakeholder evaluations of programs and services to enhance continuous improvement. 
    10. Collaborates with other senior leaders on strategic issues and communicates instructional initiatives and concerns with the College community and the Board of Education. Works effectively with college constituents including faculty, tutors, students, administrators, staff, and Board of Education, industry representatives, donors, etc. in support of College goals and initiatives.

    • Master’s degree from an accredited program
    • Five (5) years of post-secondary administrative experience, including at least three (3) years at the dean-level or higher
    • Three (3) years college teaching experience
    • Experience developing and managing budgets
    • Experience working with unions, participating in union negotiations, and ensuring compliance with union contracts.
    • Experience working with diverse backgrounds of a college’s community, students and employees, and demonstrated commitment to promoting access and diversity
    Preferred Qualifications:
    You do not need to have the following desired qualifications to qualify. However, keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates.
    • Doctorate degree from an accredited program
    • Experience with community college students in a community college setting
    • Experience with strategic enrollment management
    • Experience in developing career technical education (CTE) programs and working with accrediting bodies
    • Experience with fundraising and grants

    Working Conditions:
    Works assigned schedule, and exhibits regular and predictable attendance.  As necessary to meet workload demands, works outside of typical schedule including evening/weekend hours.  Work may require travel to off-campus locations.
