Full Time Mortgage Loan Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

Assists members by providing general information about Credit Union, its loan policies, and member questions on new or existing mortgages. Interview loan applicants and assist members with the loan application process.

Provide members with all state and federal required disclosures

Obtain and evaluate credit bureau reports to determine credit worthiness of applicant.

Provide Mortgage Lending Manager with all qualifying information for approval as needed.

Calculate closing costs and provide estimates for closing costs to members.

Prepare/oversee preparation of closing packages and send as appropriate to attorneys, or branches for closing if not closing in office of the Mortgage Loan Officer.

Obtain copy of current homeowner’s insurance and flood insurance (if applicable) and make sure mortgage clause is in favor of credit union.

Pay/oversee payment of members’ taxes and insurance premiums from escrow accounts.

Assist tellers with members in mortgage payoffs and payments.

Ensure that paid mortgages files notes and Deed of Trust are marked cancelled.

Responsible for mortgage files being kept in order (member number or date) and filed/stored in proper storage location for review or retention.

Responsible sending copy of Home-owners policies with escrow to Admin for the 3rd party insurance monitoring company the original stored in loan file.

Ensures that home-owner’s policies without escrow are sent to Admin for the 3rd party insurance monitoring company.

Responsible for updating escrow payments when change made on policies.

Represent the credit union in various civic and community functions for selling of mortgage operations products and services when required.

Complete educational and training programs in accordance with supervisor directions.

Performs other assigned duties as needed in order to satisfy membership needs and discharge the business requirements of the credit union.

Qualification requirements:

High school graduate and work experience with another credit union or banking institution and loan operations desired.

Person needs to be familiar with Credit Union Policies, Rules and Regulations including Federal and State laws.

Knowledge of Mortgage lending procedures, rules and regulations, including Federal and State Laws required.

Requires ability to cope with possible adverse situations involving members.

Possess good oral and written communication skills.

Possess computer skills and knowledge of computer programs including Word, Excel and other business applications.

Must be willing and able to travel to locations throughout area of membership for the position as required.

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
