Physicians Mutual has an opportunity to join their Enterprise Technology Group as an Operations Analyst.

What will you do?

The Operations Analyst will monitor and control subsystems running under Z/OS. Ensures integrity of system by locating queued jobs. Resolves production job abends by modifying JCL or coordinates with programmers and managers to ensure the problem is resolved. Identifies looping tasks, storage violations, etc., and takes corrective action to avoid system degradation and outages. Codes Data Stage Applications. Monitors NETWORK servers connected to the mainframe to ensure continuous operation. Escalates observed and/or identified problems with the NETWORK servers on an as-needed basis. Resolves and documents Help Desk inquiries related to system, operational or hardware discrepancies. Coordinates with outside vendors to resolve hardware and software problems. Codes, tests, and maintains automation software packages to ensure accurate and efficient usage. Responsible for FTP transfers of highly sensitive data to numerous business partners. Resolves errors both internally and externally relating to the TCP/IP protocol used in the FTP and print processes.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Willing to work Monday-Friday 10pm-6am
• Strong analytical skills with strong attention to detail
• Thorough understanding of hardware & software to identify technical issues
• Strong verbal & written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task & run multiple programs, operating systems, and numerous servers.

Preferred:

• Additional college coursework in Computer Science or relevant discipline.
• 2 years of computer operator experience is desired.
