Position Summary

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, services and equipment as directed, consistent with hospital practices, standards and policies.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

High school degree. College course work preferred.

Credentials

State Required: None.

GPRMC Required/Preferred: A current motor vehicle operator's license required.

Physical Demands

Stand and/or walk occasionally.

Sit frequently.

Lift up to 50 pounds floor to shoulder occasionally.

Reach floor to over shoulder occasionally.

Essential Functions
-
Interviews vendor representatives,negotiates,costs ,terms and evaluates performance.

Procures medical and non-medical supplies, equipment and Service, evaluates new products, and processes returns and credits.

Understands Group Purchasing Organization contracts and commitments and purchases accordingly.

Investigates invoice discrepancies as needed.
-
Consults with hospital personnel to determine the quality, effectiveness and durability of purchased products.

Responsible for maintaining control of R and I.
