Responsible for planning, organizing, and executing the association’s communications, strategies and public information activities, including submitting announcements to local and state media.
The Communications Associate is responsible for fostering and maintaining relationships with news media editors, reporters, other governmental elected officials and their staff, other communications staff, members, community leaders, donors, sponsors and partner organizations involved with the Association.
Essential Functions:
· Under the direction of the CEO and the Chief Communications Officer, create and manage the development and implementation of an integrated marketing and communications strategy/plan, supporting the Association’s Strategic Plan.
· Develop media programs.
· Collect data from appropriate departments; measure and evaluate the Association’s brand and media coverage in alignment with the overall marketing communications plan.
· Develop and manage media relations and public relations including maintenance of important relationships and development of key messages. Proactively place strategic new stories that communicate the Association’s messages in significant media outlets including social media.
· Research, write, edit and publish press releases, alerts, statements, articles, and other materials in support of the Association’s brand/mission.
· Develop a crisis communications plan for the organization and an implementation process in collaboration with other team members.
· Design and implement media, brand and crisis communication for staff, field and key leadership, when appropriate.
· Create and interpret members surveys on a quarterly basis.
· Use video along with other outlets to connect with members and the public.
· Actively engage on multiple social media outlets, daily.
· Other duties as assigned.
· Monthly electronic newsletter creation and distribution.
· Schedule and script podcast episodes
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in related field or commensurate experience.
· Previous professional experience in membership, marketing and/or sales.
· Excellent personal computer skills and experience with Microsoft products.
· Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop/illustrator, Canva and other related software programs.
· Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communication skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries.
· Familiarity with DSLR cameras
· Experience with social media scheduling platforms.
Work Environment and physical demands:
· Ability to walk, sit and stand (including on the floor) for extended periods of time.
· Must be able to lift or carry supplies up to 20 lbs.
· Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
· Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations.
· Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time.
· Ability to pronounce REALTOR® correctly.
