Job Summary
As a Communications Officer / Dispatcher, you will be an asset to both Rostraver / West Newton Emergency Services and our sister agency, Sewickley Township Community Ambulance Service. Your primary responsibility in this role is to respond to emergency requests for EMS from multiple 911 PSAPs (Public Safety Answering Points) including Westmoreland, Washington, and Fayette County. It will be up to you to determine both the closest and most appropriately staffed unit to respond to each of these emergencies and dispatch them accordingly.
Duties
In addition to keeping up with radio communications, you will be generating Tripsheets / Patient Care Reports (PCRs) for our crews in EMSCharts, documenting all pertinent information from each call in our Daily Log Sheet in Microsoft Excel, and entering and/or retrieving information for Non-Emergency Transfers (NETs) and other special events from our calendar through Microsoft Outlook. During normal operations, RWNES has a single dispatcher on duty, but we may increase staffing during special events or large-scale incidents. Standard shifts are eight hours long, and run as follows:
Compensation
The base rate of pay for this position is $17.00 after completion of the 90-Day Probationary Period. During probation the pay is $16.50 hourly, paid bi-weekly.
