Position Summary:
The Director Major Gifts and Development manages the fundraising process for an assigned portfolio of prospects and donors and conducts activities leading to gifts of $10,000 and above. The position conducts major gift activities for the Washtenaw Community College Foundation and Washtenaw Community College. The primary responsibilities of the Director include the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual major gift prospects with the capacity to donate over $10,000.
This position will assist the CPO in coordinating the involvement of academic leadership, Foundation board members, faculty, fundraising volunteers, and College leadership in Major Gift planning and activities.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify, qualify and manage a portfolio of potential and current major donors with capacity to make gifts in excess of $10,000 in support of annual operations, special projects, campaign projects and for the endowment.
- Match WCC funding priorities with individual donor interests.
- Stay current with fundraising trends and serve as a resource on successful development activities, techniques and methods.
- Elevate donor stewardship initiatives by expanding the comprehensive prospect plan and outreach.
- Track all activity with donors and prospects within Institutional Advancement CRM donor database and Raiser’s Edge.
- Conduct at least 150 personal visits or significant contacts per year.
- Gather data, assess prospects, and develop strategies around donor and prospect current and life-time giving potential.
- Input donor information into database, including call reports and next steps.
- Ensure continued contact with prospects and donors, including cultivation activities, appropriate solicitations, and consistent stewardship.
- Work with event coordinator and oversee committee to plan and execute the gala, maximizing donor experience, fundraising, and stewardship of attendees.
- Develop plans and strategies to include academic leaders, volunteers, board members, CPO, or the President in prospect and donor visits.
- Solicit corporate sponsors and support some event planning.
- Other duties as assigned.
Hours/Schedule:
Work schedule will typically be day-shift hours (8am-5pm) on campus, with occasional nights or weekends as required. Office hours required but Director will travel extensively. Evening meetings and attending special events my lead to extended hours as needed.
This position is identified as Work from Home eligible one(1) day per week ( Monday or Friday), based on determination that essential duties can 1) be performed outside of the worksite, 2) be performed without access to equipment, material, and files located on campus, 3) be performed without face to face contact with supervisor, students or staff, and 4) be performed remotely with an overall neutral effect on students, co-workers, and the organization as a whole.
