Community Development Representative implements the economic development lending activities to support or subsidize improvements in the community. Establishes and maintains relationships with groups and organizations in the community to identify lending and other business development opportunities. Being a Community Development Representative develops an understanding of public programs and community needs to ensure effective community outreach and support development. Represents the institution within the community and is a resource for information about products and services that are available. Additionally, Community Development Representative adheres to all operational procedures and complies with Community Reinvestment Act and other regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Community Development Representative occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Qualifications summary

    Duties and responsibilities




    • Provide training and mentoring to project participants in community development and social innovation, needs assessment, grant writing, and project management.


      • Maintain knowledge of core requirements for training and mentoring in community development and social innovation.


      • Advise project participants about Center policies in close consultation with the Center Director and administrative assistant:





      • Application and registration requirements


      • Training, mentoring progression, and scheduling


      • Completion requirements.


      • Help develop, distribute, and maintain relevant materials that will assist program participants in tracking their individual progress and implement project evaluation that demonstrates the Center’s effectiveness.


      • Build and manage active lines of communication with various program partners and community stakeholders.





      • Support the Center Director and administrative assistant in the production of the annual program report.


      • Update program mentees’ records and maintain documentation files.


      • Coordinate their program schedules with participants, colleagues, faculty, and stakeholders.


      • Consult the course schedule and produce syllabi to meet program requirements.


      • Use remote technology to provide support to mentees/participants.





      • Maintain a professional environment.


      • Be an effective communicator and team player.


      • Field enquiries from prospective participants.


      • Assist with special projects.


      • Other responsibilities as requested by the Center Director.





    Supervisory responsibilities

    The position does not involve supervisory responsibilities.

    Qualifications

    Graduate university diploma in community development or related field; two to four years related experience working with volunteer organizations and grant writing.


    Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

    Technical competencies

    The ability to read and analyze correspondence and reports, develop grant applications, and interpret and produce instructional material. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Center management and stakeholders.

    The ability to calculate figures relating to project requirements, budgeting, and scheduling.

    The ability to solve practical problems where program policies and procedures require discretional judgments.

    Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, Teams, etc.).

    Interpersonal interactions

    Must have a positive and friendly personality and be willing to provide support to program participants. Must be willing to train and supervise participants and interact on a professional level with faculty and mentors. Must be willing to advocate on behalf of participants and work independently. Must be willing to travel as required.

    The Community Development Specialist is required to maintain regular contact, usually through email, with the Center Director, participants, colleagues, and faculty.

    Physical demands

    Must be able to travel (in economy) between 10 to 15% of their work assignment.

    Work environment

    The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
