Turning the Corner Residential Treatment programs is seeking full-time Residential Counselor (Direct Care Staff) for our trauma-informed evidence-based treatment programs. Experience working with adolescents in DCYF custody, who have diverse backgrounds, complex mental health issues, and co-occurring behavioral problems is required. Ability to work as member of team. Residential Counselors spend the most time with program youth observing their behaviors, triggers, coping mechanisms, and adaptive skills and must be able to communicate these needs to the various members of the administrative team, especially the Program Clinician. A Residential Counselor’s job scope includes, but are not limited to the following:

• Provide compassion and emotional support to residents through active listening.
• Provide daily basic care for and with the residents; meal preparation, assisting with routines (preparation for school, homework, appointments, meetings, chores, laundry, passes, etc.), and assist in keeping the facility tidy
• Follow the behavior management program while understanding how the program is designed to assist the residents
• Possess the ability to advocate for clients and communicate their needs to the administrative team
• To participate in and help facilitate monthly fire drills
• To participate in and help facilitate daily room checks
• Maintain the daily logs, behavior management program checklists, incident reports, medication sheets, and additional paperwork.
• Residential Counselors must be a good role model in all instances.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
