Community Health Director is responsible for developing plans for community-based health programs aimed at the prevention of disease and promotion of health. Recommends community health initiatives, policy implications and best practices after reviewing health literature and statistics. Being a Community Health Director identifies community health program related grant funding and develops grant proposals. Manages specific community health programs from planning and design through implementation and evaluation. Additionally, Community Health Director requires a master's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a top management. The Community Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The Gove County Community Foundation (GCCF) Director provides support and leadership to build a viable community foundation by developing relationships and working with individuals, area groups, and entities for the purpose of community development and betterment of life in Gove County.
Responsibilities:
· Market and promote the Community Foundation to grow funds and assets and to raise the visibility of the Community Foundation;
· Organize, facilitate and attend annual fundraising events/projects, including communications and marketing with assistance from the board;
· Promote funding opportunities to individuals, businesses, groups and associations;
· Develop and implement cooperative and joint efforts between the foundation and community/county organizations which promote common goals and achieve mutual advantage;
· Manage the daily operations of GCCF business, answering and directing calls, correspondence, project/funding requests, grant reports, etc;
· Attend and prepare GCCF board meetings providing materials including; agendas, job activity & financial reports and minutes;
· Maintain and/or coordinate GCCF website and social media;
· Coordinate, promote, and manage the Dane G. Hansen Initiatives, with assistance from the board;
· Facilitate grants – applications, approval, awareness, management, records and promotion - in assistance with the board;
· Assists board of directors in setting and implementing plans and goals, both long and short term;
· To propose sound and realistic plans which will enable the Board of Directors to appraise the future needs of the community, make prudent program decisions, and guide the Foundation easily and effectively consistent with expressed donor wishes, community needs and legal requirements;
· Attend city council and county commissioner meeting(s) as requested and be available for questions;
Miscellaneous:
· A laptop computer and other necessary office equipment and supplies will be provided at the expense of GCCF with ownership to remain with GCCF
GCCF Requirements to fulfill position:
Bachelor’s degree, preferred
Nonprofit experience, preferred
Knowledge of the community
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at a time
Organizational and communication skills
Create and maintain relationships and networks skills
Valid Kansas driver’s license
Technology experience including databases, excel, word
