    About Battleground Texas Engagement Fund

    Battleground Texas Engagement Fund is a 501 c (4) organization dedicated to civic engagement and voter registration as tools to build stronger communities. We believe that regular people like us can significantly impact elections, and we’re expanding the electorate by registering voters and mobilizing Texans to engage in the civic process. 


    About This Role

    The primary responsibility of the Regional Organizer is to register and turn out new voters by recruiting, managing, and training volunteers to organize their communities and neighborhoods. Their responsibilities include but are not limited to: developing a plan to organize their region, developing volunteer leaders, planning and executing voter registration events, building relationships with community leaders, and ensuring data integrity.


    This job traditionally requires the ability to carry folding tables weighing approximately 35lbs, set up canopy tents, occasionally crowd canvass at events for several hours at a time, which will involve a lot of walking. You will be required to report to the office at the beginning of your shift and report back to the office after your shift is over.

    Essential Duties:

    • Organize in-person voter registration drives and related events, including setting up voter registration booths and tables and canvassing for voter registration at community events like parades, festivals, and rallies
    • Follow all Texas Volunteer Deputy Registrar rules including turning in all forms within 5 days of collection
    • Recruit and develop volunteers to support voter registration and Get Out The Vote (GOTV) in the community and develop lasting activist infrastructure
    • Occasional organizing and mobilizing around legislative session actions
    • Knock doors for electoral purposes and voter registration
    • Attend local events including coalition meetings, small club meetings, trainings, etc.
    • Work with existing volunteer teams and community leaders to support their development and organizing goals
    • Build and maintain relationships with counterparts in allied organizations
    • Meet metrics-based goals as set by organization leadership
    • May have to work extended 6-day work weeks in the two weeks leading up to Elections and Voter Registration deadlines 
    • Other duties as assigned
    • Regular local and in-state travel required


    Skills & Qualifications

    • There are no formal education requirements for this position
    • Authenticity in your commitment to organizing as a means for building power for communities of color and young people in Texas
    • Commitment to Battleground Texas’ mission and our organizational values, goals, and objectives
    • Experience growing up or working in diverse communities and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and empowerment
    • Ability to become a Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR) in multiple counties
      • 18 years or older
      • U.S. Citizen
      • Not have been determined by final judgment of a court to be without the right to vote
      • Not have been finally convicted of a felony, or if convicted, must have fully released from the resulting disability to vote.
      • Never been convicted of failing to deliver a voter registration application to a voter registrar
    • Task and time management skills 
    • Experience using databases to track and review data 
    • Experience planning, setting up, and staffing events
    • Volunteer management 
    • Access to reliable transportation and drivers license.
    • Familiarity with EveryAction, Mobilize, Google suite, and other campaign databases
    • Attention to detail when reviewing documents, organizing personal workspace, and tracking & transporting voter registration forms

    Compensation: All Battleground Texas Regional Organizers will receive a salary of $50,000 yearly ($4,175.00 per month).


    Benefits: Full Time employees are eligible for generous benefits, including health care, vision, and dental insurance; sick leave, unlimited paid time off, parental leave, cell phone stipend, internet stipend, employer sponsored 403b account, and more. 


    Time Commitment: The Regional Organizer position is a full time position. Due to the nature of the role, the ability to work evenings and weekends is required.


    Travel: Daily travel to and from the office will be required. Regular local travel to events and county elections offices will also be required in order to complete the voter registration process.
