The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

Responsibilities
The Production Supervisor Role reports directly to the Operations Manager. Responsibilities include; under general supervision, organize, coordinate and supervise the daily operations and activities of multiple production department on multiple work shifts; and perform related work as assigned. This role is for 1st 7:00 A.M. – 3:30 P.M.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and develop the production employee teams
- See that tools, materials, drawing and supplies are available and ready to assure continuous operations, and obtain or requisition any essential items needed.
- Make frequent checks of work to maintain quality and quantity standards, and take proper corrective action in cases of faulty work, excessive scrap or production delay.
- Survey the plant during the shift and communicate any machine breakdown or machining troubles with other site management as appropriate.
- Review performance of shift employees periodically and make recommendations on transfers or other changes in status.
- Maintain discipline and harmonious relations, enforce good housekeeping, and adjust primary grievances in accordance with Company policy or collective bargaining agreement procedure.
- Prepare or check time, production, scrap, inventory, cost, efficiency or other reports and records required in connection with off shift operations, and attend supervisory or other meetings scheduled by management.
- Improve safety, quality, delivery and cost Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
- Analyze, recommend and solve problems related to production efficiency
- Own & facilitate cost improvement projects that directly translate into productivity
- Manages work force, either directly or through lead persons, in order to meet delivery schedule to customers & complete all relevant documentation
- Ensures the correct staffing levels in accordance with customer order demand
- Facilitate Supervisors & Team Leader workflow management, workforce scheduling, and team members’ placement to ensure the facility and company goals are successfully met or exceeded.
- Ensures clean and safe work areas are maintained. Leads the departmental 5S program in accordance to Morgans’s 5S policy.
- Prepare and review departmental reports.
- Instructs Inspectors and Operators to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Works with HR/EHS; to implement company policies and enforcing safety regulations.
- Interprets specifications, blueprints, and other documentation, and translates to work force.
- Helps manage the new product development transition process converting prototype builds into full production runs.
- Ensuring all required equipment & tools have been procured for manufacturing team to effectively complete their tasks .
- Designs & implements measurements to improve production methods, equipment performance, efficiencies, and quality of product.
- Analyzes and resolves problems with equipment and employees.
- Maintains employee timesheets and PTOs.
- Manage employee vacation schedules and time off requests to ensure coverage that supports production goals.
- Generates positive reinforcement reminders and offers positive feedback to employees.
- Trains new employees, lead persons, and assists with new junior engineer training.
- Offers technical support/feedback to engineering to aid in troubleshooting/process improvements.
- Works with supply chain employees to review component availability.
- Plans how to best use furnaces and other equipment in order to maximize output.
- Lead daily DGA meetings with Production Employees to review KPIs and assign actions & owners.
- Perform various tasks as assigned by Operations Manager.
- Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all Mexico state and federal regulations and with Morgan Environmental Health & Safety Guidelines. Guidelines include but not limited to participation in required EHS training and use of proper PPE. Employees are responsible for reporting hazardous conditions and job-related injuries or illnesses to their supervisor.
- Lead site thinkSAFE activities within your production team through the role of thinkSAFE Champion.
- Perform H&S team briefings and ensure correct PPE is worn by team members at all times.
- Ensure all 6S activities and tasks are completed in full and performance boards are kept up to date.
- Lead by example and ensure all Company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Co-ordinate production related training activities for your team members across site and ensure work instructions & skills matrices are in place for all activities and are kept upto date.
- Ensure production plans are followed and prioritise work accordingly to meet plan.
- Review WIP on a daily basis to ensure non-movers are escalated.
- Perform Return to Work interviews with employees following periods of absence.
- Perform and support Line Manager with performance management and disciplinary activities.
- Support Continuous Improvement initiatives across site.
- Must be at least 30% productive on a daily basis (operating).

- Must Speak English and be fully bilingual.
- College Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain or Business Preferred.
- 5-7 years of Supervisory experience leading large indirect teams over 300
- Possess general computer skills and use Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Powerpoint.
- Ability to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format.
- Excellent time management, planning and leadership skills.
- Must have a high safety awareness of self, others and surrounding environment.
- Must be able to work extended hours to support business needs or adjust schedule to support night shift when needed
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of operations and lean manufacturing, production planning, methods and techniques
- Equipment set up, functions and operation procedures; procedures on inspection, quality assurance, safety requirements and shipping practices, methods and procedures
- Knowledge of basic math; hazardous materials handling and emergency response procedures
- Material management systems and inventory control procedures
- Principles of supervision, training and personnel administration
- Ability to lead a dynamic team of skilled operators
Physical Requirements:
