Computer Operations Supervisor supervises computer operations, acting as a team resource for guidance and support on complex or unusual issues. Implements policies and procedures to perform routine tasks to maintain computer equipment and its peripherals. Being a Computer Operations Supervisor continuously monitors the efficacy of computer operations, backup processes, system monitors, and server availability to ensure operation goals are met. Analyzes and records error messages to diagnose issues and works with impacted groups to provide a timely solution. Additionally, Computer Operations Supervisor recommends potential equipment upgrades to improve the capabilities of computer operations. Ensures computer operations activities meet pre-established production targets and maintain operating budgets. May require an associate degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager. The Computer Operations Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Computer Operations Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     The Operations Supervisor is a supplemental job description which is paired with a core job description (EMT or Paramedic). The Operations Supervisor is expected to set an example and be a leader at all times. He/she is expected to provide first-line, supervision to clinical personnel. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for assuring adequate resources are available for on-duty crews, ensuring completion of all base and truck duties at assigned station, provides guidance and mentoring, and is responsible for completing employee evaluations. Serves as the first level of leadership for their division. This position, in times of need, may be expected to fill in as an EMT or Paramedic to provide patient care.

    • Certification/Licensure:
    • Valid Driver’s License (if non-Florida license, must obtain FL driver’s license within 45 days)
    • Valid State of Florida EMT or Paramedic Certification
    • Current CPR Certification
    • Current ACLS Certification (if Paramedic)
    • Education:
    • High school graduate
    • Minimum AS or AA degree preferred
    • Length of Service:
    • 3 or more years of industry related experience
    • 1 year of full-time leadership experience as an FTO, Divisional/Regional Supervisor or equivalent lead role
    • Skills:
    • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
    • Preferred criteria include the ability to use Microsoft Office 365 products and other electronic means to prepare letters, memos and other forms of communication
    • Ability to learn, utilize and assist others in the use of the company’s electronic patient care reporting software.
    • Ability to identify and operate at all levels of the incident management system. Possession of NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 required within 6 months of appointment to the position.
    • Demonstrated teaching and presentation skills as this position may assist in the training of new and current employees.
    • Demonstrates leadership qualities, supports and directs field employees, holding them accountable for their job performance.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    SAFETY

    • Safety Culture: The Operations Supervisor will lead by example to ensure that all activities performed while on duty at Ambitrans Ambulance are done in a manner to ensure the safety of all personnel, our patients, and the community. This includes an attitude toward safety such as, but not limited to vehicle safety, OSHA compliance, scene management, routine facilities maintenance, etc.
    • Quality Assurance – Readiness: Ensures that in-service vehicles, supplies, controlled substances, and equipment have been thoroughly checked by all personnel and recorded in the company’s designated software (Ninth Brain). Ensures that all reported deficiencies are corrected at the earliest possible time. Documents and reports these deficiencies to the Director of Operations and other departments.

    ETHICAL CONDUCT

    • Work Habits – Time Management: The Operations Supervisor will plan and structure time effectively and efficiently. Supervises the day-to-day activities of operations, including overseeing timely responses to trip pages, appropriate patient care, and proper transportation of patients. The Operations Supervisor must concentrate effort on the most important priorities in the short and long term. Examples might include incident reports, non-HR related investigation interviews, follow up notes, running calls, and other duties as assigned.
    • Work Attitude: The Operations Supervisor will take the initiative to complete work assignments without prompting; exert maximum effort and serve as a role model for staff; demonstrate persistence during the performance of daily duties; bring a high level of energy to job performance; and maintain an optimistic demeanor during job performance.
    • Acting with Integrity: The Operations Supervisor will understand EMS finance and aim to reduce waste in daily operations; follow all appropriate ethical standards in the workplace; consistently act honestly and display the highest level of integrity; be accountable and accept personal responsibility for his or her own actions and those of subordinates; understands the importance of ethical behavior in the face of adversity or contrary public opinion.

    SERVICE EXCELLENCE

    • Communication: The Operations Supervisor will understand the importance of effective communication with coworkers and subordinates; active listening and how it promotes effective communication; facilitating discussions with various stakeholders (including coworkers, subordinates, customers, other emergency responders, healthcare professionals, the public, etc.); developing and maintaining contacts that can be used to assist with job related responsibilities.
    • Problem Solving: The Operations Supervisor will use all available resources to make educated decisions; have a basic understanding of how analytical decisions are made to help ensure clinical and operational excellence; be able to concentrate and use information gathering skills to make immediate coherent decisions; and have basic knowledge of all job functions that he or she oversees. May be asked to interview employees regarding incident report follow up and provide feedback, coaching, or corrective action as appropriate.
    • Executing Tasks - Shift Communication: The Operations Supervisor will provide oncoming crews with a briefing and feedback session to communicate any operational considerations as directed such as safety bulletins, anticipated hazards on shift (weather, road conditions, etc.), planned events, agency initiatives, (e.g., policy, procedure, news), etc.
    • Executing Tasks – Shift Reporting: The Operations Supervisor will provide the other supervising and managing officers with an electronic daily report including but not limited to shift briefing and personnel encountered, missed service opportunities (lost calls), fleet issues, personnel issues, supply issues, safety issues, and scheduled transfers.
    • Managing Significant Incidents: Responds to Ambitrans incidents as appropriate and serve as corporate liaison when necessary. In the event of a Mass Casualty Incident, he/she will report to the Incident Commander (IC) for further direction.
    • Quality Assurance – Retrospective Clinical Review: The Operations Supervisor will complete routine quality assurance reviews with field personnel in the electronic patient care report system when requested by the Training/QA department.
