Estimating Assistant / Junior Estimator Responsibilities:
The Estimating Assistant / Junior Estimator is responsible to perform support activities both clerical and technical in nature as required to assist a team of Estimators, Project Managers & Super Intendents and other site personnel on various construction projects. An example of some of the duties involved are, documenting and assembling manuals, preparing submittals, compiling job document packages, document review, quantity takeoffs and other activities of a similar nature which may be required from time to time.
The position requires some experience in a technical environment with strong background in construction, computer applications and online document management.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
· Coordinate bid activity from pre-bid to bid due date.
· Consolidate plans, specifications and other job information into bid files, ensuring all information is organized and readily accessible.
· Maintain accurate records of bid responses.
· Track, maintain & document bid RFI’s & addendums.
· Writing letters and emails, developing and maintaining job files.
· Assist with preparing and maintaining weekly bid meetings.
· Prepare, expedite and monitor bid tracking list & sales records.
· Possess knowledge of all project plans, specifications, and related project documents.
· Assist with quantity takeoffs with the ultimate progression into a full-time role of estimator-project manager.
· Prepare bid proposals for estimates.
· Other activities which may from time to time be required.
Estimating Assistant / Junior Estimator Requirements:
· Knowledge and skills relevant to a Construction office performing technical tasks and/or assisting with technical and general tasks.
· Detail oriented, organized, meticulous, results driven, able to work semi-independently, ability to work well in a construction office environment.
· Effective computer skills.
· Communication skills, both verbally and in writing, to enable clear and effective interaction with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
· Proven ability to multi-task and work productively in a high-energy environment.
· Ability to perform mathematical and accounting functions.
· Experience with Sage, Excel/Microsoft products & Bluebeam.
