  • Duties

    • Performs and/or directs the full range of field engineering functions associated with assigned projects.
    • Performs biddability, constructability, operability (BCO) reviews of plans and specifications.
    • Participates in or conducts site showings and pre-construction conferences.
    • Makes recommendations and prepares documents for signature by the Authorized Representative of the Contracting Officer.
    • Ensures strict adherence to safety provisions of the contract.

    Specialized Experience for GS-10: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Monitoring construction quality such as adherence to approved production schedule or proper installation of material components; AND 2) Interpreting plans and specifications for contractors, in order to set goals of projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

    Specialized Experience for GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Directing field engineering function associated with assigned project; AND 2) Recommending changes to scopes of work with assigned projects; AND 3) Monitoring construction activities are conducted in a safe manner. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).

    Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

    Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 5 years, may be extended up to the maximum of 8 years. If a permanent federal employee applies and is selected, the employee will forfeit their permanent status and becomes subject to the provisions of the term appointment.

    Permanent Army employees who accept a time limited appointment will not have placement rights to the previously held permanent position at the end of the time limited appointment
