Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is a highly independent and professional position in the Communications and Health Education Program as well as Quality Management Program requiring knowledge of performance management, marketing and public health practices. The position is responsible for a variety of activities including assistance with branding and marketing of agency initiatives and programs, public health intervention design and implementation, developing and managing content for the Hernando County Health Department (Hernando CHD) external and internal website, leading organizational quality improvement activities, and implementing health education and wellness events or initiatives.
PUBLIC HEALTH COMMUNICATION & MARKETING: Serve as a back-up for PIO for Hernando CHD. Completes all training required and participate in statewide PIO conference calls. Assure information provided to the public is accurate and approved through established channels. Assist with development for production of billboards, banners, social media, television, and news media (which may include videos and presentations) for the public on a variety of health topics. Serve shifts for Emergency Duties, as assigned.
HEALTH EDUCATION SUPPORT: Assist staff in developing presentations for the public. Provide consultation services to ensure local agency’s compliance with Hernando CHD brand guidelines. Participates in outreach activities and health promotion events related to core messages and campaigns. Collaborates with other staff to develop and deliver health education presentations to youth and adults in a variety of settings. Attends community meetings as a representative of Communications, Health Educations Nutrition and Public Health Preparedness Programs. Attends events on weekends and evenings as needed.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PLAN: Collaborate with key staff to monitor and update the FDOH-Hernando Workforce Development Plan. The workforce development plan links and supports other statewide plans to include the agency’s Strategic Plan and the Quality Improvement Plan. The purpose is to ensure that the workforce has the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies needed to carry out the Department of Health missions and strategic objectives.
PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT / QUALITY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM: Assist with oversight of: the FDOH-Hernando performance management system; the QI Liaison and Performance Management Council Co-Lead for FDOH-Hernando; Develop, implement, and monitor progress of the FDOH-Hernando QI Plan and Workforce Development Plan; assist department directors with the establishment of performance measures and benchmarks, track and trend performance, objective selection methodology for testing performance, performance improvement initiatives, and reporting methodology; work cooperatively with FDOH-Hernando administration, directors, and program managers to ensure quality of care and service delivery; Provide technical assistance for performance improvement initiatives; Assist with development and required updates of the Community Health Assessment and CHIP.
STRATEGIC PLANNING: Assist the Strategic Planning Lead for FDOH-Hernando; Develops, implements, and monitors progress of the FDOH-Hernando Strategic Plan ensuring that it is in alignment with state strategic priorities; Compile and present progress reports for the implementation of the FDOH-Hernando strategic plan incorporating health outcomes and goals.
LIFELONG LEARNING/PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Participates in required training and continuing education activities.
