Job Summary: The Career Planning/EDP Consultant is responsible for supporting the Genesee County Career Planning Initiative (CPI) within Genesee County school districts as assigned by the Executive Director of Career Technical Education. Responsible for engaging, assisting, and training local districts to ensure meeting of expectations. Monitor the progress of local districts’ career planning initiative plans and students’ access to completing a quality Educational Developmental Plan (EDP). Works collaboratively between districts while supporting instructional programming and activities for high school students preparing for career pathways.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to):
- Provides leadership in regional activities related to secondary career preparation activities within Genesee County.
- Monitors the quality of students’ Educational Development Plans (EDP) in grades 8-12 during a Midyear Review and End of Year Review.
- Participate in monthly meetings of Career Resource Center (CRC), planning meetings, and training sessions which support the CPI.
- Meet with Local Education Agencies (LEA) teams responsible for CPI plan implementation as needed.
- Provides support to local districts for Xello (previously Career Cruising) program.
- Works collaboratively with GISD/Career Preparation Coordinator to support LEA and CPI activities.
- Consistently demonstrates Win-Win leadership.
Other Duties:
- Serves in special administrative assignments as designated by the principal.
- Follows district health and safety procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in education required. Secondary education is preferred. Relative work experience in the field within the past six years.
Experience:
Minimum five (5) years of successful teaching experience. Secondary level preferred. School administrator in middle school and/or high school preferred. Experience training and working with school staff.

Possesses strong working knowledge of subject matter and current research on learning. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to utilize district technology, and work to maintain proficiency, as skill sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district. Demonstrated mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the essential duties of the position. Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position.
