Title: Grant Writer
Status: Part-time (20 hours per week but can be flexible)
Reports To: President
Compensation: Salary, project-based fee, or a combination
POSITION SUMMARY
The Grant Writer is responsible for writing proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects and for submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing grant funded projects.
Responsible for the overall delivery of assigned work projects within the department/team. Determines work tactics, project deliverables and resource requirements. Participates in the development of departmental action plans, work processes and systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:
Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation, corporate and individual sources.
Work with team members to gather information necessary to report to corporate/foundation funders on current grant programs.
Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate/individual donors.
Exhibit understanding of United Way of Florence County history and programs.
Maintain current records in database including grant tracking and reporting.
Track statistics relevant to development and provide team members with written materials necessary for donor stewardship.
Provide development input for organizational materials.
Assist with other fundraising projects as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirements include:
Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience.
Three years of advanced-level experience in writing grants.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. Experience with Instrumentl preferred.
Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
Strong editing skills, attention to detail.
Experience with proposal writing.
Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research.
Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
Able to monitor and meet goals.

SALARY STATEMENT
The salary range for this position is $20,000 to $30,000 per year. Salaries are determined by several factors including applicant’s knowledge, skills, experience, position, equity, and market. Project-based fee is dependent on the scope of project.
