    Position Overview

    The Continuous Improvement Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, driving, and sustaining continuous improvement initiatives within our manufacturing operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas of improvement, develop strategies, and implement solutions to enhance productivity, efficiency, quality, and safety.

    Essential Job Duties

    • Identify Improvement Opportunities: Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify areas for improvement in manufacturing processes, systems, and workflows.  
    • Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and root causes of inefficiencies, defects, and bottlenecks.
    • Process Optimization: Develop and implement strategies to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve overall operational efficiency. Apply appropriate tools to improve line capacity, line efficiency, process reliability, mean time between failure and other key measures.
    • Lean Manufacturing: Apply Lean principles and tools such as value stream mapping, 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements.
    • Project Management: Lead cross-functional improvement projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and successful implementation of process changes.
    • Training and Education: Work with HR to provide training and support to manufacturing teams on continuous improvement methodologies and tools to foster a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
    • Standardization: Develop and maintain standardized work procedures, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and efficiency in manufacturing operations. 
    • Performance Monitoring: Establish performance metrics, KPIs, and data tracking systems to monitor and measure the effectiveness of improvement initiatives.
    • Change Management: Effectively communicate and engage with stakeholders at all levels to gain buy-in and support for improvement initiatives, manage resistance to change, and drive successful implementation.
    • Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in continuous improvement methodologies to drive innovation and optimize manufacturing operations.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Manufacturing Systems) required.
    • 3-5 years’ experience in roles optimizing process and equipment performance and team member training required.
    • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification (preferred).
    • Understanding and application of Statistical Process Control.
    • Experience within the Food, Dietary supplements or Nutraceutical industries preferred.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  This is primarily a sedentary role; however, the job duties require the hands to type, the ability to communicate, and at times requires the ability to move about.
