    SUMMARY:

    This is a contract position responsible for the migration of the district and schools’ websites to an alternative vendor, and ensuring district wide compliance, training, and support with Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA compliance. The contractor will coordinate the planning, maintenance, and accessibility of all webpages and develop comprehensive structures and plans for continued maintenance, compliance, training, and accessibility.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

    • Oversee and support data migration from existing sites to new platform and manage uploads and data for the school district’s students, parents, staff, and others.
    • Serve as the liaison with Apptegy and other vendors for Professional Development offerings for content uploaders to include ADA compliance.
    • Provide regular updates on the migration project status.
    • Assist in full implementation of ADA website compliance WCAG 2.1 standards and maintenance of the school websites at that level.
    • Identify barriers to accessibility and support, create, and facilitate changes to content to ensure compliance.
    • Review and monitor state department and other relevant requirements for district and school websites and coordinate school liaison and department website administrators’ content accordingly.
    • Set and enforce compatibility and interoperability standards that ensure site accessibility for all users.
    • Engage in manual testing to audit websites to identify barriers to online programs, services and activities.
    • Evaluate accessibility of vendor products and supports Divisions with qualifying vendors for engagement with ACPSD.
    • Remediate barriers promptly to conform to the District’s accessibility standard.
    • Collaborate to offer training and retraining of content uploaders with inaccessible content.
    • Respond to accessibility concerns, investigate concerns, communicate appropriate resolutions, and maintain comprehensive records of concerns and outcomes.
    • Review and modify digital resources to ensure accessibility compliance.
    • Collaborate with vendors, departments and schools to offer appropriate alternative digital content when barriers cannot be overcome, including those with third-party providers.
    • Increase the capacity of ACPSD staff to produce fully and equally accessible content and information for independent use by all individuals including those with disabilities.
    • Develop a plan in partnership with the District Communications Director and other district personnel to maintain accessibility of the services, programs, and activities communicated or facilitated online, including updated testing and remediation protocols; revised procurement protocols and language; ongoing training for web content uploaders, procurement officials, designations of responsibility, and appropriate sources of funding to support ongoing efforts.
    • Ensure compliance with district policies, procedures, and ethical standards; software licenses; and applicable state and federal laws and regulations including data security, privacy, and intellectual property laws.
    • Collaborate with district personnel and the Office of Civil Rights (OCR).
    • Ensure that the district and school website designs are attractive, professional, informative, error-free, and intuitive.
    • Find, troubleshoot, diagnose, and fix website problems, including broken links (both internal and external), typographical errors, formatting inconsistencies, security issues and performance problems.
    • Coordinate with web site departments and content creators from across the organization.
    • Create, manage, and maintain user lists as assigned.
    • Administer accounts and user permissions.
    • Provide timely support to schools and district departments with the district website, social media, and other information platforms.
    • Maintain and document ownership of district internet domains.
    • Support communications team in sharing website/mass communications information with stakeholders.
    • Provide instructions and orientation to computer users.
    • Reestablish a style guide for all website content that maintains consistency for all print and content published.
    • Work with Communications Director to facilitate plans and vision for the website in relation to the district and schools’ marketing.
    • Prepare site statistics and analytics; identify and share opportunities for enhanced visibility, function, improved search engine optimization (SEO), time on site, web traffic, and other relevant metrics.
    • Maintain proficiency in Apptegy’s Thrillshare Platform and other relevant platforms necessary for success in this contractor role through regular participation in workshops, webinars, and training.
    • All tasks will be expected to be performed with a high level of social and interpersonal skills as demonstrated through communication, teamwork, and collaboration.

     

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

     

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    College degree with emphasis in Web Development, Computer Information Technology, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or another area of concentration.  A minimum of two years of website development experience. Training and/or experience in ADA compliance and/or website accessibility.

     

    Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, teachers, students, parents, and the general public.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and in the display and interpretation of assessment data. Ability to apply basic concepts of statistical analysis, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding in carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.  Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to quickly assess educator and administrative needs and provide timely feedback.

     

    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

    Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

     

    Ability to apply knowledge and current research and theory in specific field.  Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with administrators and educators.  Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.   Ability to organize and implement a flexible work schedule in order to meet reporting deadlines.  Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group.  Ability to submit all requested reports and documentation in a timely manner and in accordance to scheduled deadlines. The position requires meeting deadlines, and interacting with teachers and administrators.  Some extended hours and multiple demands from several people are frequently required of the employee.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Some driving is required.  Frequent writing and use of technology required.
