National Mill Maintenance (NMM) is a reputable company known for its exceptional fluid power and maintenance services. Founded in 2017, NMM has established itself with four locations, including its headquarters in Birmingham, AL, and facilities in Mobile, AL, Blytheville, AR, and Manilla, AR. In 2024 NMM became a part of The Industrial Service Group (ISG). ISG supports brands, services, and products providing routine maintenance and repair to help keep plants running efficiently and avoid the high cost of unplanned downtime.
Position Summary
The National Mill Maintenance Controller will focus on a variety of duties relating to operational and financial reporting, analyzing profitability, and supporting the NMM brand in achieving overall corporate financial and strategic objectives. Reporting to the ISG Corporate Controller and the NMM CFO, this position will support the monthly close, cost accounting, internal control environment, and provide daily financial support and added value to the NMM leadership team and finance organization. This role requires someone who is proactive, analytical, performance driven, and a catalyst for change management.
Major Job Functions
· Financial Leadership
o Partner with division leadership to ensure achievement of overall division objectives, including analyzing data to initiate improvements impacting financial performance.
o Present NMM branded financials and key metrics to NMM, Specialties Vertical management and ISG management team.
o Responsible for annual budget, monthly forecasting, preparing Monthly Business Reviews with variance analysis of MTD, YTD and TTM vs Prior Year and Budget.
o Adhere to company policies and internal controls; liaison with external auditors.
o Own and lead the NMM accounting team to ensure the process and systems are efficient and scalable. Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the organization’s fiscal function and performance so leadership has the appropriate level of visibility into the business.
· Cost Accounting, Inventory and Assets
o Manage systems and processes for accurate accounting and reporting of inventory valuation, labor/overhead, and physical inventory. Facilitate ASC 842 accounting entries for all NMM locations.
o Provide labor reporting details sufficiently to facilitate evaluation of labor efficiency and recommendations to management. Support and monitor business needs in matters of employee policies including oversight of payroll record keeping and accounting recognition.
o Assure inventory records enable the organization to capture and analyze project and customer profitability accurately.
· Month-End Close
o Responsible for the month end closing and associated balance sheet management, including accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, working capital and cash flow management.
o Coordinate with accounting staff to ensure the timely execution of period and year-end close requirements with a 5 Business Day close expectation.
· KPI’s and Performance Analytics
o Lead effort in improving division metrics and reporting/dashboards for management team to drive insights and performance management.
· Strategic Projects
o Assist Management, Finance, Operations, and other departments on data analysis for special and ad-hoc projects.
· Business Performance and Optimization
o Provide proactive business process improvement and optimization recommendations across the Company.
o Support migration of ERP to Oracle NetSuite

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar
